Left Lane: Jim Bailey Runs 10.812/81.97, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.150/272.78, Was #7
Right Lane: Louie Allison Runs 5.067/286.38, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.396/217.46, Was #8
Bailey had problems right off the starting line, and clicked it off. Allison with his best pass of the weekend and that puts Bailey on the bump.
Left Lane: Bruce Litton No Time, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.069/238.30, Was #7
Right Lane: Jim Head Runs 4.907/291.89, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.016/287.11, Was #5
Both cars launched hard and were side by side until about 800 feet and then Litton had a big fishtail of smoke and oil. That will cost him the run and 15 points. He ran a 4.916 seconds at 287.05 mph.
Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.829/291.76, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.838/305.49, Was #2
Right Lane: Paul Romine Runs 5.771/162.08, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.915/298.73, Was #4
After a long clean up and Millican made his best pass of weekend in that lane. Romine was right with him until half track and then he started mixing up cylinders and clicked it off.
Right Lane: Shirley Muldowney Runs 5.073/215.44, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.741/319.22, Was #1
Muldowney launched hard and had all the candles lit until about 1000 feet, but she will hold on to the number one spot.
