GRAND BEND, Ont. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley at the Inaugural Mopar Parts Canadian Nationals presented by Castrol listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Doug Vancil Runs 6.613/219.03, Now #1
Right Lane: Steve Moore Runs 7.007/200.93, Now #2
2:30 PM We open with an awesome pass by Vancil, almost four mph faster than the World record.
Left Lane: Mike Romine Runs 7.167/176.60, Now #4
Right Lane: Allen Peterson Runs 6.864/180.32, Now #2
Romine never did get his "outriggers" in, his legs out all the way down the track on an off-pace run.
Left Lane: Johnny Mancuso Runs 6.565/212.26, Now #1
Right Lane: Ray Price Runs 6.834/199.42, Now #3
Mancuso was very close to the center line at the finish line, but no foul.
Left Lane: Jay Turner Runs 6.522/215.67, Now #1
Right Lane: Jim McClure Runs 29.769/18.28, Now #8
Great pass by Turner to put "Bulldog Racing" atop the ladder. McClure launched, the engine sputtered, then it went silent and he coasted through.
Left Lane: Bob Spina No Time, Now #0
Right Lane: Steve Stordeur No Time, Now #0
Left Lane: Bob Spina Runs 6.858/199.37, Now #6
Right Lane: Steve Stordeur Runs 6.429/203.61, Now #1
Wow! Stordeur runs 0.014 seconds under the current World record on a very nice pass, while Spina struggles to keep off the centerline, leaning way off the left side of the bike.
Left Lane: Bill Furr Runs 6.632/212.46, Now #5
On the final run of the session, Furr motored smoothly down the groove - but after Stordeur's run, he looked slow.
