LAS VEGAS -- The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is playing host to 24 teams representing 16 NHRA Pacific Division tracks at the Summit Racing Series Finals. A record number of competitors from Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah are expected to race this weekend. The expected 886 cars will be competing in five classes - Pro, Sportsman, Street, Motorcycle, and High School.

Time trials continue Saturday and will culminate in final eliminations on Sunday, Oct. 14. Competitors in the top four racing categories are vying for a share of the $27,160 purse. The champions in each of those classes will advance to compete against the winners from NHRA's other six divisions at the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., next month. Each racer will earn $3,500 travel money as well as a chance at the $5,000 winner-takes-all purse.
