POMONA, Calif. -- Today at the close of qualifying at the 40th Annual AutoZone WinterNationals, will find Don Lampus driver of the ExpressAutoParts.com Top Fuel Dragster, preparing for eliminations on Sunday. The 4.803 at 307.23 mph that he ran in the third round of qualifying on Saturday would hold and be good for the 13th spot in the final qualifying order.

"When we came to the track this morning it was kind of nerve wracking," said Lampus. "I felt a little disappointed that we were not in the show. I don't like to feel like we were on the outside looking in, but I had faith in my crew. These guys are good. I knew they could make it happen today, especially my crew Chief Mike McLaughlin. I had total confidence that he would put our ExpressAutoParts.com Top Fuel dragster in the show today. We had a good lap first thing this morning. It gave Mike baseline data to tune the car with. The second pass we tired to step it up. The car shook the tires and I had to shut it off, but we learn something from every lap. I am confident that these guys will give me a car that will go rounds tomorrow morning. We are going to come out here tomorrow and play hard.

Lampus will meet current Winston Champion Tony Schumacher in Round 1 of eliminations. The last time the two met was in October at the O'Rielly Auto Parts Fall Nationals in Dallas, TX.

"I am really looking forward to tomorrow. We have Schumacher first round and I'm excited about that. I feel like we own him one. He took us out in Dallas last fall. He then went on to win the race. Maybe we can pay him back the same way at this race. Wouldn't that be cool?

Eliminations begin at 11:00AM PST .
