CHICAGO-2 - Pro Stock Truck Qualifying Notes, Session #1

JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Truck at the Inaugural NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:


Left Lane: Michael Graves Runs 8.287/159.46, Now #2
Right Lane: Peter Berner Runs 7.695/176.33, Now #1

2:58 PM It's time for the first round of Pro qualifying here, the temp is a cool 55 degrees and the sky is cloudy.

Left Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 7.528/179.11, Now #1
Right Lane: Rick Brown Runs 7.590/176.42, Now #2

Brown gets a little out of shape right off the line but gets it straightened out for a decent run.

Left Lane: Lou Ficco Runs 7.504/179.33, Now #1
Right Lane: Scott Tidwell Runs 14.474/56.76, Now #6

Tidwell gets out of shape, heads for the wall and has to shut down. Ficco, with the quickest run of career, takes the early pole.

Left Lane: Craig Eaton Runs 7.484/180.45, Now #1
Right Lane: Dale Eaton Runs 7.508/180.65, Now #3

Two good runs here, a career best for both.

Left Lane: Bart Price Runs 12.345/69.89, Now #9
Right Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 7.521/180.33, Now #4

Price had a good sixty foot time, a 1.045, but he got out of shape about 100 feet out and had to shut down.

Left Lane: John Lingenfelter Runs 12.113/72.10, Now #9
Right Lane: Jeff Naiser Runs 15.880/51.09, Now #12

Naiser pulls the wheels, bounces the front end off the ground a couple of times and aborts the run. Lingenfelter gets about 300 feet out and shut down.

Left Lane: Victor Cagnazzi Runs 12.492/68.66, Now #12
Right Lane: Don Smith Runs 7.473/180.96, Now #1

Cagnazzi gets out of shape about 200 feet out and shuts down. Smith makes a trouble free pass and takes the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 7.474/180.16, Now #2
Right Lane: Scott Perin Runs 7.508/179.80, Now #6

Good sixty foot time for Lastor, a 1.042, and he jumps into the second spot.

Left Lane: Mike Coughlin Runs 7.418/181.91, Now #1
Right Lane: Todd Patterson Runs 7.493/180.09, Now #5

Coughlin makes a great pass, a career best for him, and takes the pole for now.

Left Lane: Jeff Gracia Runs 7.473/180.50, Now #3
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 14.690/56.03, Now #19

Stanfield gets out of shape right off the line and has to shut down.

Left Lane: Randy Daniels Runs 7.475/180.40, Now #5
Right Lane: Bob Panella Jr Runs 10.583/83.92, Now #16

Panella makes a hard move to the left right off the line, tries to get it back in the groove and finally aborts the run.
