INDY - Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from final, round 5 qualifying in Pro Stock at the 47th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:


Left Lane: Carl Beal Runs 14.221/58.68, Now #45; Best prior run: 11.420/77.44, Was #45
Right Lane: Kevin Lawrence Runs 7.113/193.60, Now #40; Best prior run: 7.086/193.96, Was #40

It is hot out there and the sun has been baking the track for a couple hours.

Left Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 10.691/86.15, Now #43; Best prior run: 7.176/191.43, Was #43
Right Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 7.056/196.36, Now #36; Best prior run: 7.008/197.42, Was #36

Cunningham made a quick move toward the centerline and clicked it off. Thomas was real loose right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Mike Weinle Runs 7.114/194.97, Now #41; Best prior run: 7.088/193.49, Was #41
Right Lane: Bob Benza Runs 7.055/196.93, Now #32; Best prior run: 6.974/196.96, Was #32

Well if these first cars are any indication there will not be too many changes.

Left Lane: Danny Coffman Runs 7.122/194.91, Now #38; Best prior run: 7.037/196.16, Was #38
Right Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.973/197.25, Now #31; Best prior run: 6.973/197.39, Was #31

Grant with the best pass of the session so far as he matched his previous best pass of the weekend.

Left Lane: Arturo Delgado Runs 7.053/196.47, Now #37; Best prior run: 7.015/195.62, Was #37
Right Lane: Tony Gillig Runs 7.021/196.79, Now #30; Best prior run: 6.972/197.45, Was #30

Gillig was real loose right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Eric Shelton Runs 19.867/39.40, Now #35; Best prior run: 7.003/196.53, Was #35
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 7.034/196.73, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.966/197.28, Was #29

Shelton shook hard and coasted on through the quarter mile.

Left Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 7.089/196.99, Now #34; Best prior run: 7.000/196.64, Was #34
Right Lane: Bo Nickens Runs 6.988/198.26, Now #28; Best prior run: 6.964/197.83, Was #28

Still no help for either of these two.

Johnson was real loose right off the starting line.

Patrick shook the tires real hard and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 6.981/198.67, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.944/198.90, Was #21
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 16.255/49.59, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.934/198.20, Was #19

Koretsky made a quick move toward the wall.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 7.001/198.29, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.925/198.58, Was #17
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.936/199.17, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.927/199.29, Was #18

These should be the last two that are not in the show and they will not make it.

Left Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 12.698/68.56, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.920/199.91, Was #16
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 9.573/98.41, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.906/198.79, Was #14

Both cars go out and shake the tires and then click it off.

Left Lane: Hurley Blakeney Runs 6.984/197.65, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.912/199.14, Was #15
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.957/198.93, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.905/199.32, Was #13

Blakeney was real loose from half track on.

Left Lane: Tom Martino Runs 7.127/197.88, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.905/199.52, Was #12
Right Lane: George Marnell Runs 10.795/83.08, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.904/199.40, Was #11

Marnell with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.946/199.26, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.903/199.46, Was #10
Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.976/198.26, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.900/199.32, Was #9



Left Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 7.038/198.17, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.891/198.90, Was #6
Right Lane: Brad Jeter Runs 14.362/93.42, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.899/199.32, Was #8

Jeter made a move toward the wall as soon as he let the clutch out.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.928/200.20, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.889/199.97, Was #4
Right Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 15.393/54.05, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.895/199.73, Was #7

Hammonds shook hard right off the starting line and he clicked it off. Krisher with the quick time of the round, so far.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.919/200.05, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.885/200.50, Was #3
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.964/198.79, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.889/199.82, Was #5

Warren now with the quick pass of the weekend and this would be around the same time as the finals tomorrow.

Left Lane: Mark Osborne No Time, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.879/200.68, Was #1
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 10.178/89.71, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.880/199.91, Was #2

Osborne broke on the burnout and was pushed off. Anderson made a quick move toward the wall as soon as he let out the clutch and he clicked it off. That wraps up Pro Stock qualifying with Osborne in the number one spot. Alderman holds on to the number 16 spot to round out the field.
