Right Lane: Al Hofmann Runs 5.582/180.33, Now #14; Best prior run: 10.040/83.90, Was #19
3:08 PM The Top Fuel teams had a difficult time getting a handle on the track surface under the heat of the afternoon sun. We'll see if the Funny Cars can do any better.
Hofmann made it to half track before he hazed the tires, and apparently he didn't
want to try to pedal through it.
Left Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 5.056/297.68, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: John Lawson Runs 5.584/197.59, Now #16; Best prior run: 8.625/92.53, Was #19
Creasy kept the candles lit all the way down the track, one of his best passes of this season. Lawson lost traction at half track and pedaled it a couple times, to no avail.
Left Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 10.698/80.82, Now #21; Best prior run: 13.475/68.56, Was #21
Right Lane: Jerry Toliver Runs 5.369/265.74, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.449/33.77, Was #20
Toliver is running a different body on his car than he had last night, this one being a flat black example.
Pedregon was up in smoke at the 200-foot mark. He stayed on the throttle, the car
almost sideways at half track before he lifted. Toliver hazed the tires at half
track, got off the throttle, then got back on it hard.

Right Lane: Bruce Sarver Runs 4.915/308.21, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.691/180.24, Was #19
Gilbertson lost traction at half track and clicked it off shortly after. Looks like tuner-car owner Alan Johnson found the right set up on Sarver's car for these conditions.
Left Lane: Johnny Gray No Time, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.930/307.23, Was #14
Right Lane: Bob Bode Runs 8.846/93.08, Now #20; Best prior run: 5.613/214.38, Was #20
Gray was up in smoke almost immediately and he shut it off. Bode lost traction at about 100 feet. He stayed on it, the car fishtailing toward the middle section of the track, and he crossed the centerline taking out the half track timing cones.
Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.862/310.63, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.916/308.78, Was #13
Right Lane: Jim Epler Runs 5.108/277.77, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.893/300.93, Was #10
Capps blazes straight down Broadway, a very good looking pass. Epler didn't have any apparent problems, but his performance was way off from last night's effort.
Left Lane: Chuck Etchells Runs 10.517/86.62, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.904/312.86, Was #12
Right Lane: Frank Pedregon Runs 6.320/141.67, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.872/316.01, Was #8
Both cars go up in smoke, Etchells at 100 feet, Pedregon at about 400 feet.
Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson No Time, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.891/309.63, Was #10
Right Lane: Scotty Cannon Runs 4.878/309.98, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.852/309.20, Was #5
Wilkerson broke on the burnout and had to be pushed back off of the track. Cannon was mixing up the cylinders on the top end of the track, but still manages a very nice pass under afternoon track conditions.
Left Lane: Dean Skuza Runs 6.684/134.52, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.880/311.34, Was #9
Right Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.835/312.06, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.850/311.41, Was #4
Skuza lost traction just before half track and he lifted. Johnson ran full power all the way down the track. Snake racing's brain trust has the track figured out today.
Left Lane: Gary Densham Runs 4.836/319.52, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.862/308.00, Was #7
Right Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.881/305.98, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.843/316.08, Was #4
Densham resets the track speed record while mixing up cylinders in the lights. That is also his career best speed. Worsham had a clean and straight pass, no problems on that one.
Left Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 4.813/316.52, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.829/309.56, Was #2
Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.899/311.77, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.810/315.56, Was #1
Bazemore runs a career best elapsed time and a season's best speed on this pass. Force was moving around his lane a little on the top end of the track.
