CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the 47th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Carl Beal Runs 11.420/77.44, Now #45; Best prior run: 13.145/57.15, Was #45

We start Pro Stock qualifying under sunny skies, the temperature is around 76 degrees, humidity is 56% and the barometer is 30.01 inches. Beal shook right off the starting line and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 8.133/125.45, Now #30; Best prior run: 7.003/195.53, Was #29
Right Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.975/196.85, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.030/195.19, Was #34

Barry Grant made a move in the right direction, but still came up short.

Left Lane: Arturo Delgado Runs 7.023/196.42, Now #34; Best prior run: 7.042/194.52, Was #36
Right Lane: Bo Nickens Runs 6.964/197.83, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.025/196.70, Was #33

Nickens with a big move, but still way short of the bump.

Left Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 7.239/191.54, Now #42; Best prior run: 7.176/191.43, Was #42
Right Lane: Larry Peternel Runs 7.250/182.60, Now #43; Best prior run: 7.195/192.25, Was #43

Both of these guys go in the wrong direction here.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.885/200.50, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.956/199.02, Was #16
Right Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 7.087/196.22, Now #40; Best prior run: 7.131/195.53, Was #41

Warren has figured out his problems here with a great looking pass to take over the number one spot. That is the et track record, too.

Left Lane: Mike Weinle Runs 7.099/195.00, Now #41; Best prior run: 7.088/193.49, Was #41
Right Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.990/196.56, Now #30; Best prior run: 7.030/196.13, Was #35

Benza finally gets into the six-second zone, but is only good enough for number 30. No help of Weinle.

Left Lane: Kenny Delco Runs 7.156/191.57, Now #38; Best prior run: 7.084/193.57, Was #38
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 9.259/101.06, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.966/197.28, Was #22

Nobile clicked it off around half track.

Left Lane: Eric Shelton Runs 14.747/56.05, Now #37; Best prior run: 7.053/195.79, Was #37
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.905/199.32, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.010/197.59, Was #34

Kurt like his father has fixed the problems that were troubling them earlier this weekend. Shelton was real loose right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Danny Coffman Runs 8.371/118.00, Now #36; Best prior run: 7.037/195.31, Was #36
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.976/196.96, Now #27; Best prior run: 7.004/196.64, Was #34

Allen Johnson got into the six-second zone, but is still a long way from making the show.

Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 7.050/198.12, Now #33; Best prior run: 6.996/198.03, Was #33
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.906/198.79, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.927/198.73, Was #12

Gaines jumps up into the top half of the field with this nice looking pass. Troy went in the wrong direction.

Left Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.952/198.17, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.990/196.90, Was #30
Right Lane: Tony Gillig Runs 6.979/196.96, Now #30; Best prior run: 6.990/196.79, Was #31

Left Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.999/196.30, Now #31; Best prior run: 6.986/197.05, Was #31
Right Lane: Ray Franks Runs 6.986/197.10, Now #26; Best prior run: 6.973/197.62, Was #26

Both of these two go in the wrong direction.

Left Lane: Hurley Blakeney Runs 7.661/161.94, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.978/197.57, Was #29
Right Lane: Mike Trumble Runs 6.998/197.22, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.971/196.96, Was #25

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 7.001/198.12, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.960/198.35, Was #21
Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.924/198.52, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.921/198.44, Was #11

Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.981/196.90, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.957/197.68, Was #20

Koretsky got in the show with this pass and that bumped out Hammonds and put Jeter on the bubble.

Left Lane: Larry Nance Runs 7.019/195.62, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.956/197.65, Was #20
Right Lane: David Strouse Jr. Runs 6.951/196.99, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.951/197.57, Was #18

Left Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.919/198.85, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.938/197.16, Was #15
Right Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 6.939/198.38, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.948/197.42, Was #17

Hammonds was just bumped out got back in with this pass, and that bumped out Jeter.

Left Lane: Mark Osborne Runs 12.828/67.36, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.903/198.44, Was #3
Right Lane: Brad Jeter Runs 6.976/197.88, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.943/198.12, Was #17

Jeter who was just bumped out is up now, and he does not get back in here as he went the wrong direction.

Left Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 6.965/197.71, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.925/199.23, Was #13
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.927/199.29, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.931/199.26, Was #14

Alderman went in the wrong direction. Coughlin picked up a little, but not enough to move up the ladder.

Left Lane: Tom Martino Runs 6.905/199.52, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.907/199.58, Was #7
Right Lane: George Marnell Runs 6.963/198.32, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.920/198.58, Was #11

Martino picked up 0.002 seconds and two spots with that pass, that is just how close this field is getting.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.908/199.52, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.905/200.29, Was #4
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.907/198.99, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.917/199.11, Was #9

No help for Edwards while Yates moved into the top half of the show here.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.889/199.97, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.902/200.00, Was #2
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.930/198.58, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.913/199.52, Was #9

Krisher got into the 6.80's zone, but fell short of WJ and will stay number two. No help for Anderson and he will stay in the number nine position. Warren with the et track record has number one spot and Tom Hammonds rounds out the top 16.
