CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Truck at the 47th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Peter Berner Runs 7.704/174.37, Now #26; No Prior Run
11:48am - The crowd is still buzzing after the 2nd round of qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle, Angelle Savoie's 7.12 was awesome.
A large cloud has covered the sun for a few minutes, so we should have an exciting round here.
Peter's first pass of the weekend - he's got a baseline to work from.
Left Lane: Samuel Tompkins Runs 7.745/175.98, Now #29; Best prior run: 10.087/92.21, Was #32
Right Lane: Rick Brown Runs 7.642/175.14, Now #21; No Prior Run
Don Smith's 7.601 is the bump - That will not hold up for this round. Tompkin's 1.124 short time kept him from moving up further on the ladder.
Left Lane: Dale Eaton No Time, Now #33; Best prior run: 8.004/141.49, Was #33
Right Lane: Michael Graves Runs 10.504/88.27, Now #34; No Prior Run
Eaton's new Mopar had a problem after coming to a stop on the burnout. After a few moments the crew runs out and pushes him back, so Graves will have a single. Graves leapt over towards the wall, the motor then over-reved when he got the right slick into the marbles and began spinning the tire. Mike tried to drive through it, but wisely lifted when the truck started moving around.
Left Lane: Douglas Harris Runs 7.644/175.05, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.787/172.59, Was #31
Right Lane: Victor Cagnazzi Runs 7.530/179.25, Now #2; Best prior run: 12.822/66.49, Was #35
Cagnazzi's truck ran well at the start - 1.067 short time, after that he was smooth and straight to move well into the top half of the field.
Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 7.616/177.44, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.749/174.84, Was #32
Right Lane: Joe Pigford Runs 7.542/178.85, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.864/143.57, Was #33
At this point in the program with the times we're seeing, we may see a 7.40 run to take the top spot. Nice run for Pigford who had problems yesterday.
Left Lane: Jody Schmeisser Runs 7.659/175.89, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.683/175.34, Was #29
Right Lane: Chip Ippolito Runs 13.931/61.09, Now #32; Best prior run: 7.715/173.05, Was #32
Schmeisser's run was fun to watch, but not quick - he got way up on the wheelie bars and rode it out quite a ways. Ippolito had problems right off the start, the reason not clear from here.
Left Lane: John Coughlin Runs 7.504/179.28, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.629/176.79, Was #21
Right Lane: Mark Linebarrier Runs 7.641/175.41, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.700/173.63, Was #30
The bump is now Jerry Haas with a 7.592 - but there are quite a few trucks left to run. Coughlin ran -->><<-- that close to the forties...
Left Lane: Vinny Barone Runs 7.566/177.84, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.625/176.07, Was #21
Right Lane: Jeff Gracia Runs 7.527/178.87, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.677/176.63, Was #30
Big top end charge for Gracia - the Panella horsepower evident on this run.
Left Lane: Don Smith Runs 7.516/178.87, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.601/176.63, Was #21
Right Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 7.614/176.53, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.656/175.11, Was #29
Yonke has a message painted on the side of his truck - "Life sucks without Trucks." perhaps a reference to this class moving to the Comp ranks next season. Smith missed the top spot by just .001 of a second.
Left Lane: Lou Ficco Runs 7.557/178.28, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.596/177.07, Was #21
Right Lane: Larry Seay Runs 7.597/176.56, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.644/175.84, Was #28
The bump is now a 7.569 and falling, after this pair it's now held by John Lingenfelter with a 7.567.

Right Lane: Jim Kennedy Runs 7.588/177.14, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.636/176.67, Was #26
Ouch! Haas had a good start, but just moved getting into the sweet sixteen.
Left Lane: Jeff Naiser Runs 7.559/177.56, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.585/176.72, Was #21
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 7.601/177.23, Now #24; Best prior run: 7.633/175.87, Was #26
Left Lane: Scott Tidwell Runs 7.604/178.64, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.579/177.51, Was #21
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 7.512/179.37, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.569/178.66, Was #18
Stanfield's DBP Enterprises machine hiked up the front tires, then settled down quickly - nice run for the Bossier City LA driver.
Left Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 7.578/178.99, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.578/178.10, Was #20
Right Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 7.536/17.78, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.566/177.39, Was #17
Left Lane: John Lingenfelter Runs 7.539/178.05, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.567/176.77, Was #18
Right Lane: Craig Eaton Runs 7.549/178.54, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.559/178.28, Was #14
John's Summit Racing GMC had the best 60-foot time of the session - 1.049 but didn't run quite as well at the top end of the track.
Left Lane: Scott Perin Runs 7.527/178.95, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.561/178.47, Was #17
Right Lane: Bart Price Runs 7.529/179.68, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.558/178.45, Was #15
The sun has come back out, but didn't seem to affect this pair much at all. Nice passes!
Left Lane: Bob Panella Jr Runs 7.513/180.26, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.549/178.47, Was #15
Right Lane: Todd Patterson Runs 7.531/178.78, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.545/178.19, Was #13
Top speed of the meet for Panella - the first 180mph pass in the class this weekend.
Left Lane: Randy Daniels Runs 7.492/179.61, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.522/178.71, Was #5
Right Lane: Mike Coughlin Runs 7.487/179.71, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.534/179.11, Was #11
Daniels ran the first 7.49 of the weekend due to a better reaction time - but Coughlin took the top spot with an even quicker 48!
We end round two with Mike Coughlin #1, and Lou Ficco is on the bubble with a
