Torrence, Capps, Anderson and Tonglet are Victorious at AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest

MADISON, Ill. - Nationals Top Fuel points leader Steve Torrence piloted to victory for the eighth time this season Sunday afternoon at the sixth annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Ron Capps (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock), and LE Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were also victorious in their respective categories at the third of six playoff events during the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship.

Steve Torrence, Capco Contractors dragster, 3.684 seconds, 329.34 mph defeated Doug Kalitta, MAC Tools dragster 3.698 seconds, 331.28 mph.

This is his eight win of the season and he is the Top Fuel points leader.

Ron Capps, NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger, 3.879, 331.53 def. Jonnie Lindberg, Head Inc. Toyota Camry, 3.904, 326.87.

This is his eighth win of the season and the fourth at Gateway for Capps. He is the current Funny Car points leader.

Greg Anderson, Summit Racing Equipment Chevy Camaro, 6.571 seconds, 210.73 mph defeated Jason Line, Summit Racing Equipment Camaro, 6.545 seconds, 211.26 mph.

This is his third win of the season and he takes the Pro Stock points leader.

LE Tonglet, Nitro Fish Racing Suzuki, 6.792 seconds, 197.91 mph defeated Andrew Hines, Screamin Eagle/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson, 6.790 seconds, 197.94 mph.

This is the sixth win of the season for Tonglet and the 16th of his career. This is his first win at Gateway
