for the troops at Camp Beuhring in Kuwait.
The nearby military installations bussed in
off-duty troops so that they could enjoy the show as well.
While Dan Runte, driver of the Summit Racing BIGFOOT 4×4 Monster Truck, has long been part of Operation Appreciation, his teammate and fellow BIGFOOT driver Larry Swim was new to the tour this year. This year, Swim joined Runte, 2016 NHRA Pro Stock world champ Jason Line and his Summit Racing/KB Racing Chevrolet Camaro teammate Greg Anderson, as well as Vance & Hines Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson Pro Stock Motorcycle campaigners Andrew Hines and Eddie Krawiec. The group of multi-time world championship winning drivers participating in Operation Appreciation journeyed to Kuwait, and for Swim, it was his first time visiting the Middle East.
Swim got his start as a young man in the world of Monster Trucks through a friend whose father had a truck in the 1980s. The friend's dad put him to work, tinkering on engines in the evenings and on weekends, and it spiraled from there. He was first asked to drive one of the beasts when someone else he helped was unable to make a commitment one evening, and filling in for that driver turned into a full-time gig. When BIGFOOT called, Swim was ready.
