Lloyd Calls Her Shot

The next time you go to Las Vegas or play the lottery, you might want to ask Allison Lloyd for a few lucky numbers.

As the winner of the Summit SuperSeries Junior Dragster competition at the IHRA World Finals at Memphis International Raceway last month, Lloyd was there when IHRA officials unveiled the grand prize for winning the race: A custom-built JR Race Car Junior Dragster featuring custom paint from Imagine That Customs, $3,000 from Summit Racing Equipment as well as the World Championship Ironman Trophy and a diamond ring.

Allison took one look at the gorgeous new dragster, painted by fellow drag racer Jerron Settles, and said, "I'm going to win that."

And she did, beating out another female racer, Emily Million, for the victory.

"It was crazy," she said. "This has been such a good experience."

This is her fifth year in Junior Dragsters; she has one more year of eligibility. And he's already working on moving up. "I have a big dragster," she said. And beyond that? "I want to drive Pro Stock."

The Doswell, Va., resident said that racing against other girls or boys - doesn't matter to her. "We're all the same. And you can see that on the track."
