Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 30th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 7.335/145.91, Now #18; Best prior run: 8.423/115.03, Was #18
Right Lane: Paul Pittman Runs 8.200/120.33, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.705/207.56, Was #17

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 28.63 inches, adjusted altitude 2,895 feet, track temperature 97 degrees.

Kramer got out of the groove and got real close to the centerline before he clicked it off and he will not get in the show. Pittman started drifting out of the groove and he too got close to the centerline and clicked it off. He won't make the show and the field is now set, so they will just be shuffling around spots.

Right Lane: Shane Tucker Runs 6.645/208.62, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.691/208.75, Was #16

Kent with his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up the ladder one spot. Steve Kent's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.770, 660ft-4.252/166.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.530. Tucker with a quicker pass than earlier today, but not his quickest of the weekend and he will start Sunday from the No. 16 spot. Shane Tucker's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.787, 660ft-4.277/165.52 mph, 1,000ft-5.560.

Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.613/209.72, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.619/209.65, Was #15
Right Lane: Jimmy Alund Runs 6.591/210.87, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.599/210.54, Was #11

Hartford matches his quickest pass of the weekend and he will start from the number 15 spot. Matt Hartford's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.252/166.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.531. Alund with his quickest pass of the weekend, but will stay in the number 11 spot for now. Jimmy Alund's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.772, 660ft-4.248/167.16 mph, 1,000ft-5.517.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan No Time, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.601/209.23, Was #13
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.591/209.79, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.565/210.77, Was #7

Morgan broke a wheelie bar on the burnout and was shut off after the burnout. He will start from the number 13 spot. Connolly with a good looking pass after having severe tire shake earlier today. Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.764, 660ft-4.240/166.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.513.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.609/209.17, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.599/209.39, Was #12
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 7.711/120.96, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.553/211.83, Was #6

Stanfield was just a tick off his qualifying time and will start from the number 12 spot. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-2.753, 660ft-4.243/165.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.525. Johnson started drifting out of the groove and got real close to the centerline before he clicked it off.

Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.581/210.14, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.551/211.16, Was #4

Gaines with his quickest pass of the weekend to move into the top half of the show. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.757, 660ft-4.230/167.57 mph, 1,000ft-5.498. Nobile with another good pass, second quick behind Gaines quickest pass of the round. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.756, 660ft-4.232/166.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.504.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.578/211.43, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.578/211.13, Was #10
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.560/211.20, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.536/211.69, Was #3

Coughlin matches his qualifying E.T. from earlier today and he will start from the number ten spot. Coughlin with the third quickest pass of the session. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.765, 660ft-4.238/167.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.506. Line with the quickest short time of the round and parlayed that into the quickest pass of the round. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.750, 660ft-4.223/167.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.489.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.582/210.80, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.573/209.98, Was #9
Right Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 12.996/66.68, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.531/211.23, Was #2

Brogdon with the fifth quickest pass of the session and he will start from the number nine spot. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.760, 660ft-4.237/167.12 mph, 1,000ft-5.508. Enders-Stevens with a lot of shake and was side ways before she clicked it off.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.591/210.14, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.551/211.06, Was #5
Right Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.580/210.34, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.530/210.60, Was #1

Gray with a good pass, but he will not improve and will start Sunday from the number five spot. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.762, 660ft-4.239/166.81 mph, 1,000ft-5.513. McGaha with the fourth quickest pass of the round and he holds on to the number one spot. He qualifies No. 1 for the first time in his career and he is the 58th different driver to qualify number one in Pro stock.
