Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #4

JUPITER, Fla. - Notes from round 4 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA, Fourth annual PRO Winter Warmup listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Chad Head Runs 9.631/68.50, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.102/311.85, Was #9
Right Lane: Alexis DeJoria Runs 4.085/297.61, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.108/311.27, Was #10

Weather conditions: air temperature 63 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 30.16 inches.

Head is up in smoke early and clicks it off. DeJoria launched hard and was straight down the groove with her quickest pass of the warmup. Alexis DeJoria's incremental times: 60ft-0.903 sec., 330ft-2.328, 660ft-3.297/267.00 mph.


Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.014/318.17, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.056/315.93, Was #4
Right Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 8.620/85.92, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.456/204.73, Was #12

These two do their burnouts and preparing to stage when they are shut of...apparently Head was having trouble getting off the top end. After a short delay they both fire up and stage. Worsham launches and keeps the big Goodyears hooked up to run the quickest pass of the day and the second quickest pass of the Pro Warmup. Del Worsham's incremental times: 60ft-0.903 sec., 330ft-2.302, 660ft-3.248/271.35 mph.

Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. No Time, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.134/299.93, Was #11
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.111/309.77, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.061/312.06, Was #5

Johnson Jr. starts drifting out of the groove around half track and then around 660 feet and tags the wall. Johnson Jr. still put a 4.315 seconds at 229.55 mph up on the scoreboard. Tommy Johnson Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.894 sec., 330ft-2.326, 660ft-3.357/249.35 mph. Beckman with his quickest pass today and his second quickest of the PRO Warmup. Jack Beckman's incremental times: 60ft-0.904 sec., 330ft-2.348, 660ft-3.318/265.33 mph.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 9.343/82.18, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.003/320.26, Was #1
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 4.019/316.97, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.039/315.56, Was #4

Capps is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off. Hight launches hard and is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the PRO Warmup. Robert Hight's incremental times: 60ft-0.891 sec., 330ft-2.304, 660ft-3.249/272.94 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 4.616/181.59, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.067/314.46, Was #6
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.041/321.81, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.072/304.67, Was #7

Tasca starts to haze the tires around 250 feet and clicks it off. Hagan with a great looking run keeping the Goodyears hooked up all the way down track. He runs his quickest pass of the PRO Warmup and has the big top end speed. This is the fastest speed of the PRO Warmup in Funny Car. Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.913 sec., 330ft-2.335, 660ft-3.280/275.22 mph.

Left Lane: Courtney Force Runs 10.100/58.40, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.077/315.49, Was #8

Force is on a single here and is up in smoke as soon as she hits the throttle.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 8.535/61.99, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.013/318.84, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.036/314.83, Was #4

There is a special matchup to wrap up the PRO Warmup as it is John Force vs. Brittany Force in her Top Fueler. Well Brittany will get the braggin' rights as she is off the line first, but is then up in smoke and clicks it off. John keep it hitting on all eight all the way down the track and runs his quickest pass of the PRO Warmup and the second quickest of the event to wrap up the show. John Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.882 sec., 330ft-2.288, 660ft-3.242/270.75 mph.
