POMONA, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 49th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals:

Two strong leaves and straight and true passes.

Martin gets the starting line advantage and pulls ahead to mid track. Manners starts to pull back, but runs out of track.

Michael Manners' incremental times: 60ft-0.960 sec., 330ft-2.471, 660ft-3.608/221.67 mph, 1,000ft-4.561.

McKernan gets an early lead and holds off St. Arnaud untill right at the 330 light. He has the power and pulls steadily ahead for the car length win.

Don St. Arnaud's incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-2.488, 660ft-3.637/218.23 mph, 1,000ft-4.601.

IT's Ahten from start to finish. He gets a big starting line advantage, as Cowie is a little late and has a little shake. Things start to get interesting after that, as Ahten's engine drops a cylinder.

Ahten has the pace to hold off Cowie for the win. Just 0.003 difference in ET's!

Shawn Cowie's incremental times: 60ft-0.935 sec., 330ft-2.415, 660ft-3.572/213.94 mph, 1,000ft-4.558.
Johnny Ahten's incremental times: 60ft-0.956 sec., 330ft-2.447, 660ft-3.564/222.33 mph, 1,000ft-4.534.

Shields flickers the light and it costs him a little ET.

Demke gets away first and runs the quickest pass of the session to take the decisive win.

Duane Shields' incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.497, 660ft-3.629/220.66 mph, 1,000ft-4.596.

Stickler gets the starting line advantage and hold off a charging Bateman until right before mid-track. He flies on by at that point and powers to the finish line with the best speed and ET of the session.

Demke will not have lane choice next round.

Garrett Bateman's incremental times: 60ft-0.913 sec., 330ft-2.373, 660ft-3.476/226.77 mph, 1,000ft-4.416.
Ross Stickler's incremental times: 60ft-0.925 sec., 330ft-2.363, 660ft-3.517/212.43 mph, 1,000ft-4.512.

Gingles came in as the alternate and leaves hard and holds off Taliaferro until right before the 1000 foot lights, where the pipes go wet.

St. Arnaud will be in the other lane next round with lane choice.
