Top Qualifier Todd Tutterow Upset in First Round By Teammate Rivenbark

In NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series at NHRA Toyota Nationals

No. 1 qualifier Todd Tutterow was upset by teammate Kevin Rivenbark during the first round of
eliminations on Saturday during the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the NHRA Toyota
Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race is the final event in 2013 for NHRA's
popular 250-mph doorslammer touring series.
Rivenbark, the No. 16 qualifier, powered his supercharged Galot Motorsports Corvette to a pass of
6.060 seconds at 232.11 mph in his first-round win. Tutterow, who slowed to a 10.381 at 112.41,
earned his first No. 1 qualifying position in his turbo-powered Ford Mustang with a run of 5.876 at
Rivenbark will take on points leader Rickie Smith in the second round after Smith, who has already
clinched the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series world championship, went 6.010 at 238.81 in his
nitrous-injected IDG Racing Chevy Camaro to earn the opening round win.

Other first-round winners included No. 2 qualifier Troy Coughlin, who went a round-best 5.918 at
245.72 in his JEGS.com Corvette, setting up a second-round matchup with Dennis Radford, who beat
Chip King with a 5.996 at 239.78. No. 3 qualifier Mike Knowles went 5.945 at 241.88 in his
first-round victory on Saturday and will race Mike Castellana in the next round. Castellana beat
Al-Anabi Racing teammate Von Smith with a 5.965 at 240.21 in his nitrous-injected Camaro.
The final quarterfinal matchup will feature Danny Rowe, who went 5.971 at 241.37 in his winning
round, and Mike Janis, making it a supercharger-powered matchup. Janis went 5.977 at 241.11 to
claim his first-round victory.
Eliminations for the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will continue Sunday at approximately 9:45
