Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 13th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 4.017/310.63, Now #16; Best prior run: 11.488/63.30, Was #20
Right Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 4.060/285.53, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.105/262.28, Was #16

Weather conditions: air temperature 91 degrees, relative humidity 18 percent, barometer 27.95 inches, adjusted altitude 4,832 feet, track temperature 103 degrees.

Noakes launches and gets the Goodyears to hook up and makes his first full pass to get in the show. Paul Noakes' incremental times: 60ft-0.877 sec., 330ft-2.262, 660ft-3.230/264.60 mph. Chrisman with his quickest pass of the weekend, but gets bumped out of the show. Steven Chrisman's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.213, 660ft-3.211/251.30 mph.

Left Lane: Sidnei Frigo Runs 3.963/296.89, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.830/139.85, Was #20
Right Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 4.082/273.50, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.855/318.39, Was #13

Frigo with a good pass until right in the lights when it started mixing up cylinders, but he still gets in the show. Sidnei Frigo's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.216, 660ft-3.157/265.85 mph. Zizzo was on a good pass, but then started to haze the tires and slows on the top end.

Left Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.917/308.00, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.788/152.42, Was #20
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 3.833/318.39, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.844/316.30, Was #11

Buff launches hard and keeps it hooked up to make his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. The chutes never deploy on Buff's car but he gets it stopped and makes the turn off safely. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.869 sec., 330ft-2.205, 660ft-3.134/271.19 mph. Torrence with his quickest pass of the weekend to move up the ladder one spot. Billy Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.151, 660ft-3.069/276.86 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.858/322.65, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.375/191.24, Was #20
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.821/319.45, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.834/317.64, Was #11

McMillen launched hard and keep it hooked up to run his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.187, 660ft-3.105/278.40 mph. force with a great looking pass to get into the top half of the show. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.162, 660ft-3.068/281.30 mph.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.838/314.53, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.869/317.49, Was #16
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.848/320.13, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.827/316.97, Was #10

Lucas with his quickest pass of the weekend and the third quickest pass of the round to move up to the number 12 spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.078/280.49 mph. Vandergriff was on a real good pass until right in the lights when there was a quick bang and flash of flame.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.809/322.96, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.857/321.12, Was #15
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.807/323.97, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.827/324.20, Was #9

This was a great side-by-side drag race...Kalitta launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number five spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.154, 660ft-3.059/280.72 mph. Millican with a great pass as he goes to the number four spot. Millican after the finish line his right rear slick came flying off and Millican got the car stopped safely. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.159, 660ft-3.059/282.36 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.860/320.36, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.853/310.98, Was #14
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.824/321.73, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.818/321.65, Was #7

alBalooshi with a good clean pass all the way down the track, but he will not improve. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.188, 660ft-3.104/278.58 mph. Massey was straight down the groove with another good pass, but he will not improve. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.173, 660ft-3.072/282.48 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.783/327.35, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.822/323.81, Was #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.808/321.96, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.813/321.88, Was #6

Torrence launched hard and keep it hooked up and hitting on all eight to make the quickest pass of the session and the second quickest of the weekend. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.833 sec., 330ft-2.140, 660ft-3.042/282.84 mph. Brown with his quickest pass of the weekend, but will stay in the number six spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.058/281.71 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.155/216.03, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.821/314.39, Was #10
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 7.027/80.51, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.790/306.12, Was #4

Bernstein started to haze the tires and clicked it off. Grubnic was up in smoke early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.797/324.67, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.784/324.59, Was #3
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.790/323.04, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.778/324.28, Was #1

This was a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up Top Fuel qualifying. Schumacher with a great pass, the third quickest of the session. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.161, 660ft-3.052/283.79 mph. Langdon with another grat pass and then right in the lights and quick bang and flash of flame. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.153, 660ft-3.046/286.32 mph. Langdon holds on to the number one spot for the seventh time this season and the 13th time in his career.
