Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 13th annual NHRA Toyota Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Jim Laurita Runs 10.318/84.58, Now #21; Best prior run: 11.021/78.60, Was #21

Weather conditions: air temperature 89 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 27.96 inches, adjusted altitude 4,666 feet.

Laurita with a lot of shake and clicks it off and he will not make the show.

Left Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 6.278/240.34, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.483/188.15, Was #19
Right Lane: Kevin Rivenbark Runs 6.076/231.91, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.971/144.55, Was #20

Matusek made a quick move toward the centerline and he reeled it in, but he will not make the show. Rivenbark is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. That will bump out Rahaim.

Left Lane: Jim Bell Runs 6.096/226.92, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.393/223.80, Was #20
Right Lane: Bob Rahaim Runs 6.048/221.78, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.113/234.61, Was #17

Bell is loose right at the hit, but stays with it and runs his quickest pass of the weekend. He will no get in the show. Rahaim makes a move toward the centerline, but stays with it to make his quickest pass of the weekend to get back in the show. Bob Rahaim's incremental times: 60ft-1.017 sec., 330ft-2.678, 660ft-3.973/191.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.076.

Right Lane: Craig Cawte Runs 6.084/234.21, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.097/234.00, Was #18

Cawte with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Dan Stevenson Runs 6.146/235.56, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.064/238.17, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 6.024/232.67, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.026/241.20, Was #10

No help here for Stevenson and he will stay in the number 15 spot. Castellana has a big puff of engine smoke right in the lights, but still runs his quickest pass of the weekend. He will stay in the number 10 spot.

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 6.002/239.65, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.061/235.23, Was #14
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 6.042/246.39, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.024/245.27, Was #9

Smith launched hard and was straight down the groove with a real nice pass. His quickest pass of the weekend to move into the top half of the show. Von Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.644, 660ft-3.947/188.81 mph, 1,000ft-5.063. King will not improve, but still a good pass. Chip King's incremental times: 60ft-1.080 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.051/195.31 mph, 1,000ft-5.129.

Left Lane: Eric Latino Runs 6.038/241.32, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.045/243.02, Was #13
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.066/237.05, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.019/238.51, Was #9

Latino with his quickest pass of the weekend, but will stay in the number 13 spot. Eric Latino's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.663, 660ft-3.988/188.33 mph, 1,000ft-5.103. Smith with another good pass, but he will not improve. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.015 sec., 330ft-2.687, 660ft-4.001/188.75 mph, 1,000ft-5.118.

Left Lane: Pete Farber Runs 6.060/241.15, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.028/242.45, Was #12
Right Lane: Dennis Radford Runs 9.729/93.14, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.003/241.76, Was #7

Farber with another good pass, but he doesn't improve. Pete Farber's incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.691, 660ft-4.009/189.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.124. Radford shook and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 6.028/241.63, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.017/241.45, Was #8
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 5.922/245.99, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.001/245.94, Was #5

Lang with another good pass, but he doesn't improve. Coughlin launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot with the quickest pass of the session. Troy Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.032 sec., 330ft-2.710, 660ft-3.947/199.11 mph, 1,000ft-5.012.

Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 6.021/240.89, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.989/241.54, Was #4
Right Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 5.948/241.93, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.991/238.34, Was #5

Janis will not improve, but makes a good pass. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-1.036 sec., 330ft-2.687, 660ft-3.975/190.11 mph, 1,000ft-5.085. Knowles with a great looking pass, his quickest of the weekend and the second quickest of the session to go to the number three spot. Mike Knowles' incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.621, 660ft-3.916/191.13 mph, 1,000ft-5.019.

Left Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 10.651/83.85, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.876/250.69, Was #1
Right Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 6.023/241.32, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.973/242.63, Was #4

Tutterow with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off. Rowe with the fifth quickest pass of the session, but he will not improve. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.667, 660ft-3.979/189.55 mph, 1,000ft-5.090.
