2:47 p.m. Robert Mathis was supposed to be in the right lane, but had problems and the car was pushed to the side so the crew could work on it.

Both drivers made good runs. Jackson moved up into the top half, pushing Camp down to fifth. Castellana failed to improve, stayed first.

Mathis needed to beat 3.887 to get in. His car shook hard, then backfired and he coasted through.
