Extreme Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Extreme Pro Stock at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, World Finals IX listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Bradley Waddle Runs 5.521/88.31, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.122/160.12, Was #7

1:32 p.m. We have exactly 16 cars, so there won't be any bumping.

Waddle fired and made his burnout, then had to shut off because the last motorcycle did not clear the top end of the track.

Waddle shook and went in several directions. They are still running into a headwind and he also stopped short of the turnoff.

Left Lane: Benham Scott Runs 10.790/38.93, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.412/161.36, Was #13

Scott shook hard and gave it up as a bad idea.

Left Lane: Cale Aronson Runs 4.197/165.50, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.554/93.25, Was #14
Right Lane: John Deflorian Jr. Runs 5.122/98.13, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.034/180.38, Was #3

Aronson got a full pass this time out. Deflorian shook and slowed.

Left Lane: Kevin Bealko Runs 4.113/178.12, Now #7; Best prior run: 13.358/29.89, Was #16
Right Lane: Rick Cowger Runs 4.156/175.34, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.134/175.68, Was #9

Bealko went straight down the groove, Cowger was looking for it. Bealko leapfrogged over Cowger and a couple others to move into the top half of the field.

Left Lane: John Pluchino Runs 4.282/149.58, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.383/144.57, Was #14
Right Lane: John Bartunek Runs 4.130/175.87, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.127/176.12, Was #9

Pluchino improved by a tenth, Bartunek slowed slightly.

Left Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 4.075/178.78, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.100/178.76, Was #6
Right Lane: Scott Hintz Runs 7.904/76.08, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.299/140.85, Was #14

Hintz spun the tires hard and almost stopped, then drove slowly down the track. Morton made a nice run, moved up one rung on the ladder.

Elijah Morton's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.692.

Right Lane: Dean Goforth Runs 4.034/179.71, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.690/85.06, Was #16

Goforth made a strong run, the car doing its best to turn left and Goforth refusing to let it do so.

Dean Goforth's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.658.

Right Lane: Doug Kirk Runs 4.078/176.90, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.159/150.60, Was #12

Kirk is the last car of the session, except for the four cars in the semifinals of the Bert Jackson Memorial Shootout.

He would have liked to have this run earlier...another nice one, putting him in the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Brian Gahm Runs 4.066/178.31, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.047/179.11, Was #5
Right Lane: Trevor Eman Runs 5.402/91.99, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.025/179.40, Was #2

Neither driver improved, Eman getting very close to the right-hand concrete wall.

Left Lane: Cary Goforth Runs 4.044/179.16, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.023/179.95, Was #1
Right Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 4.073/169.47, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.088/176.56, Was #8

Goforth failed to improve, but stayed in the #1 spot. Montecalvo improved slightly, moved a coupls spots up in the top half of the field.
