Pro Mod Qualifying Notes, Final Session
By Larry Sullivan

BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Aeromotive Fuel Systems Pro Mod at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, World Finals IX listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 4.287/134.00, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.092/100.67, Was #10
Right Lane: Thomas Myers Runs 4.331/173.05, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.656/68.99, Was #13

12:51 p.m. Myers "drove the wheels off of it" on this run. The car headed for the centerline after the launch. He brought it back, but it tried to go past the groove and Myers handled that nicely as well.

Meanwhile, Patrick went down the groove, had a good run to the 330, but slowed on the top end.

Robert Patrick's incremental times: 60ft-0.959 sec., 330ft-2.624.
Thomas Myers' incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.861.

Left Lane: Tim Savell Runs 4.195/177.46, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.099/117.84, Was #12
Right Lane: Larry Higginbotham Runs 5.295/91.11, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.965/184.40, Was #4

Higginbotham shook and headed for the wall, finally lifting to save the paint. Savell went right down the groove and into the top half of the field.

Tim Savell's incremental times: 60ft-1.038 sec., 330ft-2.799.

Left Lane: Jim Sackuvick Runs 5.010/103.37, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.913/187.68, Was #3
Right Lane: David M Janes Runs 3.959/189.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.903/192.41, Was #2

These two made nice runs in the first round, Janes on Friday, Sakuvick earlier today.

Sakuvick shook and slowed. Janes was all over the lane, stayed with it.

David M Janes' incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.648.

Left Lane: T.J. Tindle Runs 3.970/179.49, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.267/137.96, Was #9
Right Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 4.418/172.39, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.446/80.27, Was #13

These two ran as a pair in round 1, both shook and slowed on their first try.

Tindle made a good run, right down the groove. Enders-Stevens tried her hand at backpedaling a Pro Mod car on this run, getting through tire shake to complete the run. She shaved two seconds off her ET, stayed 13th, but Tindle jumped way up on the ladder.

Left Lane: Joshua Vettel Runs 3.922/188.23, Now #4; Best prior run: 11.858/33.77, Was #15
Right Lane: K.A. Balooshi Runs 4.215/141.94, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.337/129.74, Was #12

Nice run by Vettel to move way up to the top part of the field. Balooshi wasn't far back at the 330, but there was a puff of smoke from his car and it slowed.

Joshua Vettel's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.606.
K.A. Balooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.655.

Left Lane: Keith Haney Runs 4.252/178.00, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.973/188.17, Was #7
Right Lane: Jeffrey Cummins Jr Runs 3.932/188.62, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.049/67.74, Was #15

Cummins backpedaled late in the run, with tire shake at the 330-foot mark. Moved way up the ladder by saving that run. Hanely lost a lot of time with tire shake early in the run.

Keith Haney's incremental times: 60ft-1.003 sec., 330ft-2.823.
Jeffrey Cummins Jr's incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.616.

Left Lane: Johnny Pilcher No Time, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.024/183.49, Was #9
Right Lane: Jimmy Keen Runs 3.946/169.91, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.874/195.87, Was #1

Keen leads the points, Travis Harvey is currently 16th and just pulled out of lane so he will face Keen in round one.

Pilcher left before the tree was activated, then shook and almost stopped. Keen was on a strong run, shut it off early.

Left Lane: Ron Muenks Runs 4.368/172.94, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.238/172.41, Was #12

Muenks is the only one who can mass up the Keen-Harvey matchup in round one.

Nope! He shook and pedaled about 200 feet out.

Harvey needs to defeat Keen in round one and win in round two against the winner of the Haney/Pilcher matchup in round one in order to clinch the championship. If Keen wins, he's the champion.
