Remainder of Event Cancelled
By Larry Sullivan
8:35 a.m. - The remainder of the Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit has been cancelled.
It rained hard overnight, there is a lot of standing water at the track, and weather radar shows a freight train of weather cells
just to the west of us.
The likelihood of significant precipitation is near 100 percent all day and into the evening.
Ironically, it is not raining right now, but that won't last long.
The remaining purse is being divided among the remaining participants to close out the event.
Interest in the event was strong, both among racers and spectators, but Mother Nature did not cooperate.
The staff and track crew here at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park put in a lot of work trying to give the racers a safe
track for competition and give the spectators a good show.
It was a valiant effort, but enough is enough.
