Texans Bring Home the Wins at the NHRA Texas Sportsman Shootout

In the final results from Royal Purple Raceway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Clark
Smiley, Denver City, Texas and John Warren, Pearland, Texas, took home the wins in Comp Eliminator
and Super Comp respectively.
Smiley worked his way through the field and ran 7.837 seconds at 139.57 mph in his final
round victory over Justin Rosen, Harahan, La.
Warren faced off against Jonathan Robin, Luling, La. and posted a winning run of 8.900
seconds, 159.66 mph in his. Robin drove to an 8.897 second, 164.87 mph lap for his runner up
Other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were Jimmy DeFrank, Thousand Oaks,
Calif., in Super Stock; Austin Williams, Burleson, Texas in Stock Eliminator; David Freeman, League
City, Texas, in Super Gas; and Tom Phillips, Dallas, in Super Street. In the division's Top
Sportsman class it was Brandon Chauvin, Gonzales, La., taking the win while Brandon Chauvin,
Gonzales, La., won in Top Dragster. Tony Davis, Houston, won in Sportsman Motorcycle presented by
Harley Davidson if competing.

Racing Series event, Oct. 4-6.
