Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.896/193.71, Now #4; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Anne Hansen No Time, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.346/177.70, Was #19

3:40 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 29.35 inches, adjusted altitude 2,768 feet, track temperature 119 degrees.

Hansen breaks at the hit and didn't move more than 20 feet before coming to a stop. Johnson makes an impressive pass for the conditions to get in the show in the fourth spot for now.


Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.022/192.41, Now #15; Best prior run: 11.509/70.12, Was #21
Right Lane: Dawn Minturn Runs 7.388/143.64, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.042/188.28, Was #17

Minturn was just bumped out of the field by Johnson. She got out of the groove and had to back off the throttle to avoid the wall. Harris makes his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show for now.

Left Lane: Junior Pippin Runs 7.070/186.46, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.084/185.61, Was #19
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.980/192.03, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.032/186.38, Was #17

Savoie makes his quickest pass of the weekend to get back in the field, bumping out Tonglet. Pippin improves but can't get into the show.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.952/191.32, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.024/189.87, Was #17
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 6.982/191.95, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.956/192.06, Was #12

Tonglet goes right down the groove and gets in the show making it an all six-second field. Gann doesn't improve but is safely in the show.

Left Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.014/193.13, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.984/190.78, Was #16
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.891/191.43, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.955/187.83, Was #12

Pollacheck makes the quickest pass of the session so far and moves up to the third spot.

Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.959/192.25, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.977/190.70, Was #14
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 6.944/192.52, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.933/191.59, Was #11

Smith improves a little but not enough to move up in the field.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.977/194.55, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.925/191.65, Was #8
Right Lane: Adam Arana Runs 6.892/194.16, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.932/191.54, Was #10

Adam Arana improves and moves up to the fourth spot. No improvement for Hector Jr.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.891/194.77, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.898/193.96, Was #7
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.924/191.81, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.926/191.02, Was #10

Arana makes the quickest pass of the round so far and moves up four spots to third. Hines picks up a couple of numbers and moves up a notch.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.931/193.38, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.893/193.35, Was #6
Right Lane: John Hall Runs 6.936/190.59, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.898/190.40, Was #8

No improvement for either rider.

Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.871/194.38, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.882/194.49, Was #2
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.856/195.68, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.854/194.97, Was #1

Smith and Ray once again make the quickest passes of the round.
