CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Frank Schuster Runs 8.762/60.58, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.980/215.03, Was #18
Right Lane: Mike Burns Runs 5.621/261.27, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.769/255.19, Was #17

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 49 percent, barometer 29.39 inches, adjusted altitude 1,992 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Schuster bangs the blower early and the chutes come out. Burns drives through some early tire shake and makes his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Mike Burns' incremental times: 60ft-0.943 sec., 330ft-2.506, 660ft-3.728/205.85 mph, 1,000ft-4.758. That bumps out Duane Shields and puts Dan Dietrich on the bump spot at 5.640.

Right Lane: Dan Page Runs 12.092/85.13, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.593/265.95, Was #14

Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 47 percent, barometer 29.39 inches, adjusted altitude 2,247 feet, track temperature 107 degrees.

Page is up in smoke right at the hit and clicks it off and he won't get into the show. Shields is up in smoke as soon as he launches and pedals it and can't get it to hook up and pedals it again, but will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Dan Dietrich Runs 5.878/196.04, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.640/249.03, Was #16
Right Lane: Jeff Veale Runs 5.335/276.58, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.530/270.37, Was #11

Dietrich kind of labored all the way down the track and he will not improve. Veale launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight all the way down the track to go to the number one spot. Veale runs his career quickest and fastest pass here. Jeff Veale's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.448, 660ft-3.579/222.95 mph, 1,000ft-4.527.

Left Lane: Karen Stalba Runs 10.576/99.21, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.580/239.14, Was #13
Right Lane: John Finke Runs 5.363/263.10, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.524/257.38, Was #11

Stalba starts to lose traction early and clicks it off. Finke launched hard and keep it hitting on all eight to go straight down the groove to the number two spot. John Finke's incremental times: 60ft-0.954 sec., 330ft-2.451, 660ft-3.572/223.65 mph, 1,000ft-4.528.

Left Lane: Ken Perry Runs 5.371/264.34, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.543/225.07, Was #12
Right Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 5.774/224.62, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.459/260.51, Was #9

No help here for Meyer...Perry with a great looking pass to move up the ladder to the number four spot. Ken Perry's incremental times: 60ft-0.920 sec., 330ft-2.378, 660ft-3.530/215.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.524.

Left Lane: Wayne Morris Runs 5.558/258.76, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.496/260.01, Was #12
Right Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 6.088/211.03, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.458/253.18, Was #9

Morris is straight down the groove, but will not improve. Fricke is mixing up cylinders early and then the chutes came out before half track, couldn't tell why.

Left Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 29.215/57.36, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.464/260.76, Was #11
Right Lane: Mike Kosky Runs 5.404/247.61, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.418/263.98, Was #7

McPhillips is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off. Kosky was on a real nice pass until right in the lights when the engine let go with a huge cloud of engine smoke. He still moves up the ladder a couple spots. Mike Kosky's incremental times: 60ft-0.931 sec., 330ft-2.364, 660ft-3.501/216.38 mph, 1,000ft-4.511.

Left Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 5.407/264.29, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.427/261.78, Was #8
Right Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.350/266.42, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.418/265.17, Was #7

Reichert launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Bill Reichert's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.447, 660ft-3.561/224.32 mph, 1,000ft-4.517. Thacker with a nice pass, his quickest of the weekend, but will stay in the number eight spot. Marty Thacker's incremental times: 60ft-0.936 sec., 330ft-2.406, 660ft-3.560/214.28 mph, 1,000ft-4.558.

Left Lane: Don Nolan Runs 5.445/261.22, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.406/263.98, Was #7
Right Lane: Brandon Booher Runs 5.379/268.28, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.371/269.89, Was #4

Nolan with another good pass, but will not improve and will stay in the number seven position. Don Nolan's incremental times: 60ft-0.945 sec., 330ft-2.401, 660ft-3.562/210.24 mph, 1,000ft-4.585. Booher just a few ticks off his time from yesterday and he will stay in the number four spot. Brandon Booher's incremental times: 60ft-0.908 sec., 330ft-2.410, 660ft-3.569/215.03 mph, 1,000ft-4.549.
