CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 3.961/297.88, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 3.838/309.56, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.785/108.78, Was #16

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 46 percent, barometer 29.18 inches, adjusted altitude 2,627 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Karamesines making his first pass of the weekend and he was on a good looking pass until right in the lights when the engine let go...word from the top end is there is oil on the track. Chris Karamesines' incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.216, 660ft-3.157/269.62 mph. Dakin with a real nice pass to get into the top half of the show. Pat Dakin's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.148, 660ft-3.057/281.42 mph.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.827/321.96, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.769/95.01, Was #18
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.851/320.74, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.883/148.38, Was #17

This was a good looking drag race as both cars have the header flames shooting high over the rear wing. Grubnic goes to the number five spot. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.160, 660ft-3.072/280.19 mph. McMillen gets into the show at the number ten spot. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.189, 660ft-3.095/280.19 mph.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 4.013/241.15, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.003/303.16, Was #16
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.142/206.39, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.669/163.26, Was #18

Pruett with a good launch and then started to haze the tires and clicked it off. Kalitta starts to lose traction early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.766/318.84, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.869/321.19, Was #12
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.749/324.51, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.242/217.42, Was #18

Lucas launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot with a great pass. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.124, 660ft-3.008/287.78 mph. Lucas ties the track E.T. record. Schumacher was right there with him to go to the number two spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.832 sec., 330ft-2.130, 660ft-3.016/287.05 mph.

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.787/327.59, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.858/323.74, Was #13
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.830/320.05, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.884/318.62, Was #15

Bernstein launches with the wheels in the air and keeps it hooked up to get in the show. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.170, 660ft-3.074/282.72 mph. Torrence has the header flames shooting high into the air and runs the third quickest pass of the day and the fastest pass. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.144, 660ft-3.044/284.87 mph.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.789/324.59, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.837/320.81, Was #10
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.838/322.73, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.875/320.13, Was #15

It is teammates here...Millican with a great looking pass to go to the number four spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.151, 660ft-3.042/284.75 mph. Vandergriff improves and he gets into the show. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.188, 660ft-3.087/283.37 mph.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.916/239.57, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.812/307.37, Was #7
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.796/320.58, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.848/315.86, Was #14

Force started to mix up cylinders early and clicked it off. Massey launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number five spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.149, 660ft-3.045/284.03 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.779/325.53, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.811/320.51, Was #7
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.992/142.84, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.847/317.72, Was #14

Brown starts to haze the tires and clicks it off early. alBalooshi with a great looking pass to go to the number three spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.147, 660ft-3.037/286.80 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.768/327.27, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.810/323.50, Was #7
Right Lane: Billy Torrence Runs 4.804/158.74, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.822/319.67, Was #9

Torrence started to haze the tires and pedaled it a couple times before he clicked it off. Langdon launched hard and had it hitting on all eight and goes to the number three spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.139, 660ft-3.027/287.78 mph.
