CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Kevin Rivenbark Runs 9.333/98.95, Now #22; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 44 percent, barometer 29.13 inches, adjusted altitude 2,896 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Rivenbark was real loose right off the starting line and clicked it off early.

Right Lane: Todd Tutterow Runs 7.365/116.10, Now #18; No Prior Run

Tutterow's engine let go and the word from the Safety Safari is there is oil on the track.

Left Lane: Dan Stevenson Runs 6.344/236.09, Now #17; Best prior run: 9.498/97.81, Was #24
Right Lane: Pat Stoken Runs 19.508/27.63, Now #26; Best prior run: 21.404/39.84, Was #26

Stoken with violent tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off. Stevenson makes a full pass and move in the right direction, but not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: David Hance Runs 5.999/242.71, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.987/165.56, Was #21
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 11.903/71.10, Now #25; Best prior run: 11.883/71.57, Was #25

King with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and he clicked it off. Hance launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number four spot. David Hance's incremental times: 60ft-1.029 sec., 330ft-2.717, 660ft-3.993/195.90 mph, 1,000ft-5.077.

Left Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 6.427/217.74, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.452/217.77, Was #19
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 6.057/244.34, Now #12; Best prior run: 8.763/106.37, Was #23

Satterfield improves, but not enough to get in the show. Coughlin with a real nice pass to get in the show. Troy Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.040 sec., 330ft-2.787, 660ft-4.054/195.31 mph, 1,000ft-5.138.

Left Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 6.017/240.29, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.146/238.64, Was #18
Right Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 9.194/104.48, Now #23; Best prior run: 8.574/140.77, Was #23

Matusek is real loose right at the hit and he finally clicks it off. Lang launched hard and goes straight down the groove to get into the top half of the show. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.653, 660ft-3.961/189.79 mph, 1,000ft-5.079.

Left Lane: Kevin McCurdy Runs 6.005/239.27, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.094/239.27, Was #17
Right Lane: Von Smith Runs 5.937/240.89, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.536/127.13, Was #22

Smith launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Von Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.607, 660ft-3.900/192.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.005. McCurdy with a real nice pass to get into the top half of the show. Kevin McCurdy's incremental times: 60ft-1.020 sec., 330ft-2.655, 660ft-3.955/191.19 mph, 1,000ft-5.067.

Left Lane: Harold Martin Runs 8.793/104.87, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.086/234.41, Was #18
Right Lane: Chris Juliano Runs 10.465/102.05, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.145/228.27, Was #19

Martin with a lot of tire shake and clicked it off. no help here for Juliano...

Left Lane: Adam Flamholc Runs 6.028/239.87, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.062/240.08, Was #16
Right Lane: Brad Personett Runs 5.947/249.76, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.065/250.00, Was #17

Personett with a really good looking pass to go to the number two spot. Brad Personett's incremental times: 60ft-1.015 sec., 330ft-2.686, 660ft-3.966/196.13 mph, 1,000ft-5.044. Flamholc make a move in the right direction to get in the show. Adam Flamholc's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.657, 660ft-3.973/190.03 mph, 1,000ft-5.089.

Left Lane: Craig Cawte Runs 7.113/142.36, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.056/236.75, Was #16
Right Lane: Kevin Fiscus Runs 10.947/79.13, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.045/246.21, Was #15

Cawte started shake and clicked it off...Fiscus with a lot of tire shake early and he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Pete Farber Runs 6.000/242.41, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.013/242.76, Was #9
Right Lane: Jim Laurita Runs 5.897/243.15, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.036/241.11, Was #14

Farber improves, but will stay in the number nine spot. Pete Farber's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.653, 660ft-3.961/190.78 mph, 1,000ft-5.070. Laurita launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Jim Laurita's incremental times: 60ft-0.968 sec., 330ft-2.607, 660ft-3.884/194.77 mph, 1,000ft-4.974.

Left Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 5.921/239.95, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.999/240.08, Was #8
Right Lane: Eric Latino Runs 9.500/99.22, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.031/222.18, Was #14

Castellana goes to the number two spot with a great pass. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.626, 660ft-3.905/194.49 mph, 1,000ft-4.995. Latino shook early and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 11.759/74.51, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.984/243.15, Was #7
Right Lane: Mike Janis Runs 5.977/243.63, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.025/242.10, Was #12

Knowles with violent tire shake right at the hit. Janis with a great pass to get into the top half of the show. Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-1.027 sec., 330ft-2.669, 660ft-3.955/193.10 mph, 1,000ft-5.052.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.888/243.55, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.977/241.37, Was #7
Right Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.871/246.80, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.970/244.74, Was #5

This is a great side-by-side drag race to wrap up qualifying as they go to the top of the list. Rowe is straight down the groove to the number one spot. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.959 sec., 330ft-2.585, 660ft-3.870/194.27 mph, 1,000ft-4.957. Smith is right there with him. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.612, 660ft-3.882/195.68 mph, 1,000ft-4.968.
