EARLVILLE, Iowa - Results of round 1 eliminations in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, West Central Division, event at Tri-State Raceway:

        Bye 51 Kirk Williams
E1 ****WINNER**** 1.061 15.467 NS
 Qualified: #1 5.793 249.86
12:22 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 75 percent, barometer 28.92 inches, adjusted altitude 2,551 feet, track temperature 87 degrees.

Lance Van Hauen is number three in the Central Region points and the top two aren't here this weekend. Kirk Williams was the winner here last year. He starts the session with a bye run. He just takes the green and shuts off the engine. The crew backs him away. I'm told that the engine broke a lifter in the warm-up and there wasn't time to fix it before eliminations. No lane choice for him !

5807 Billy Davis 556 Lance Van Hauen
E1 0.064 5.865 248.84 ****WINNER**** 0.090 5.797 244.52

Davis gets the head start and holds off Van Hauen until about 100 feet out. Van Hauen drives on by and pulls a head for the win. His car starts to drive out of the groove and towards the wall near the 1000 foot light, but he stays with it through the lights.

Lance Van Hauen's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.010), 330 ft(0.033), 660ft(0.052), 1,000ft(0.054). MOV: 0.0426 seconds (approximately 16 feet).

Billy Davis' incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.610, 660ft-3.881/195.68 mph, 1,000ft-4.958.

551 Dave Allison 57 Wayne Butler
E1 0.208 7.774 119.46 ****WINNER**** 0.086 5.772 248.48
 Qualified: #4 5.834 246.93 #3 5.812 248.16
Allison is late at the green and then has the car get out of the groove after the 330 lights and he snaps it back straight. Butler is powering away for the easy win. He will have lane choice over Williams.

Wayne Butler's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.539, 660ft-3.790/196.62 mph, 1,000ft-4.866.

12:32 p.m. Van Hauen will get the bye run next round.
