Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #3

BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 59th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.292/183.44, Now #13; No Prior Run

11:15 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 68 percent, barometer 28.89 inches, adjusted altitude 3,339 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Harris picks up a bunch, but it may not hold him in the field for long.

Redell Harris' incremental times: 60ft-1.141 sec., 330ft-3.047, 660ft-4.660/151.85 mph, 1,000ft-6.073.

Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.224/183.52, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.984/190.62, Now #2; No Prior Run

Hines goes from near the bottom of the ladder right up to near the top, as he finally get the pass he was looking for. Number two for now.

Wells picks up a little and gets in for now.

Wesley Wells' incremental times: 60ft-1.070 sec., 330ft-2.947, 660ft-4.581/149.63 mph, 1,000ft-6.004.
Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.082 sec., 330ft-2.902, 660ft-4.455/157.54 mph, 1,000ft-5.813.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.231/184.83, Now #15; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.991/191.43, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.017/190.65, Was #4

Looks like we see a lot of sixes this session, as Johnson finds some more power and moves up a spot with a sweet pass.

DeSantis is just a little quicker and is in the field for now.

Joe DeSantis' incremental times: 60ft-1.152 sec., 330ft-3.019, 660ft-4.623/152.54 mph, 1,000ft-6.025.
Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.081 sec., 330ft-2.902, 660ft-4.461/157.08 mph, 1,000ft-5.824.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 6.999/191.76, Now #4; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.145/187.05, Now #15; No Prior Run

Treble found something since yesterday and flies into the top four.

Camarena is a lot quicker, but this time may not hold.

Craig Treble's incremental times: 60ft-1.086 sec., 330ft-2.906, 660ft-4.469/156.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.832.
Freddie Camarena's incremental times: 60ft-1.101 sec., 330ft-2.955, 660ft-4.550/153.47 mph, 1,000ft-5.946.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.008/190.78, Now #6; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.970/191.43, Now #2; No Prior Run

Wesley Wells is on the bump spot at 7.224.

Two strong passes and both bikes move into the top half of the field.

Mike Berry's incremental times: 60ft-1.080 sec., 330ft-2.902, 660ft-4.468/156.28 mph, 1,000ft-5.834.
Scotty Pollacheck's incremental times: 60ft-1.062 sec., 330ft-2.880, 660ft-4.439/157.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.801.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.948/190.89, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.039/189.60, Was #15
Right Lane: Dawn Minturn Runs 7.012/187.39, Now #9; No Prior Run

LE Tonglet is on the bump spot at 7.048.

The Harley boys are quick today and Krawiec jumps up to the top of the stack.

Minturn runs a career best ET to just miss the top half of the field.

Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.059 sec., 330ft-2.872, 660ft-4.421/157.69 mph, 1,000ft-5.778.
Dawn Minturn's incremental times: 60ft-1.066 sec., 330ft-2.886, 660ft-4.448/156.21 mph, 1,000ft-5.822.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.966/191.38, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.048/189.87, Was #17
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.055/190.35, Now #18; No Prior Run

Jerry Savoie is on the bump spot at 7.037.

Underdahl runs better than yesterday, but won't make the quickly changing field.

Tonglet bumps back into the new number two spot on a strong pass.

LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.073 sec., 330ft-2.894, 660ft-4.444/157.65 mph, 1,000ft-5.800.
Jim Underdahl's incremental times: 60ft-1.094 sec., 330ft-2.929, 660ft-4.503/155.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.878.

Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 7.040/191.16, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.033/189.50, Was #16
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.989/193.49, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.010/192.00, Was #9

Angie Smith is on the bump spot at 7.033 and will have to stay there for now, as the slicks do a little spinning off the line,

Smith continues to show the power and moves three spots uip the ladder.

Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.111 sec., 330ft-2.938, 660ft-4.504/156.12 mph, 1,000ft-5.869.
Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.088 sec., 330ft-2.910, 660ft-4.471/156.95 mph, 1,000ft-5.830.

Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.983/192.36, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.032/190.59, Was #15
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.042/190.08, Now #18; No Prior Run

Ray joins the six second group on a strong pass and moves to the current number five spot.

Stoffer just misses the field on a quicker passthan yesterday, with a big speed.

Michael Ray's incremental times: 60ft-1.074 sec., 330ft-2.895, 660ft-4.458/156.79 mph, 1,000ft-5.819.
Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.085 sec., 330ft-2.918, 660ft-4.491/155.65 mph, 1,000ft-5.864.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.981/192.69, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.029/191.40, Was #15
Right Lane: Jerry Savoie Runs 6.980/191.70, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.037/190.48, Was #17

Side by side six second passes and both bikes are in the top half of the field.

Jerry Savoie's incremental times: 60ft-1.069 sec., 330ft-2.891, 660ft-4.450/157.06 mph, 1,000ft-5.812.

Left Lane: John Hall No Time, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.022/189.73, Was #15
Right Lane: Adam Arana Runs 7.157/190.46, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.025/188.31, Was #16

Hall leaves before the tree and won't get a time. Adam Arana is on the bump spot at 7.025 and must have been distracted, as he is much slower today.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.007/190.51, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.020/189.71, Was #14
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.938/193.88, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.968/192.80, Was #3

Arana had been bumped down to number three, but shows he has the power and jumps right back up to the top spot on a near perfect pass. The Buell had a little wobble at the 1000 foot lights and then went into a big time front end shake right after the 1320. He gets the bike back under control and quickly stops on the track. Scary!

Gann was quietly taking care of business in the left lane and put a better number up on the board to move two spots up the ladder to the #12 position.

Shawn Gann's incremental times: 60ft-1.086 sec., 330ft-2.911, 660ft-4.470/156.66 mph, 1,000ft-5.835.
Hector Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.077 sec., 330ft-2.892, 660ft-4.435/158.73 mph, 1,000ft-5.784.

11:35 a.m. Adam Arana is on the bump spot at 7.025.
