HEBRON, Ohio -- Saturday July 13th at National trail Raceway near Columbus, OH was the site of the famed Night Under Fire event. This has been an annual event for more than twenty five years. The spectator stands were filled with men, women and kids of all ages.

The Buckeye S/SS series race found a total of 40 cars running for the title and the added payout that was posted for this race. There was a great representation of Stock & Super Stock, and the Nostalgia SS cars were at least 8 or more with a Pure Stocker and a couple Crate Motor Stockers thrown in to boot!

The first time trial the Mid Ohio Paving Dial for Dollars found one of the quickest entries snag the money as Kevin Skinner from nearby Grove City, Ohio run a 8.974 on his 8.96 dial in for the $100 bonus money.

First round was run at around 4:30 and after the twenty pairs ventured down the quarter mile the Best First Round Winning Package money went to Tom Patete driving his SS/DA '69 Camaro with a .005 and run 10.053 on his 10.01 dial. Parsons & Myers Racing Engines provides the $100 bonus cash for this.

Many good racers and many good drivers fell one at a time and the semi-final round was set. Mike Warren from Bellevue, Michigan had the bye to the final round. The other paring was Danny Smith's SS/DA '67 Belvedere against the '69 Camaro of Patete. Smith was .017 to Patete's .018 and both ran their dial in. Smith was 9.645 on his 9.64 and Tom's Camaro was 10.000 on his 10.00 dial to eek out the win .

Mike Warren's 6cyl '68 Chevelle Nomad Wagon vs. the SS/DA Camaro was the final showdown. Both cars did their burnout and staged. As in every previous round the slower wagon (15.85 dial) leaving first put the pressure on the faster car but this time the pressure was on him as he left too soon with a -.018 redlight. Thomas Patete driving the SS/DA '69 Camaro is the winner of the 2013 Buckeye S/SS Night of Thunder at National Trail.

Both Patete and Warren are now entered into the 2013 Shootout to determine the 2013 Buckeye Stock Super Stock Drag Racing Series Champion.

The next race of the series will be at Quaker City Dragway on Saturday August 3rd.See you then!
