WOODBURN, Ore. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Northwest Division, Les Schwab Challenge at Woodburn Dragstrip listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Clint Thompson Runs 12.932/63.39, Now #2
Right Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.644/256.26, Now #1
12:31 pm. Thompson shakes hard off the line and then he lifts. Bellemeur gets through the tire shake, has to bring it back into the center of the lane and he finishes with a nice run.
Thompson's incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-3.286, 660ft-6.283/073.16 mph,
Left Lane: Randy Parker Runs 6.216/219.24, Now #3
Right Lane: Russ Parker Runs 5.941/243.83, Now #2
Not much tire shake from either of these cars. Russ had the better car and he will go to the #2 spot. Randy makes his best run of the season but the crew will be looking for a little more later today.
Randy Parker's incremental times: 60ft-1.017 sec., 330ft-2.687, 660ft-4.045/181.92 mph,
Left Lane: Jirka Kaplan Runs 5.687/256.84, Now #2
Right Lane: Dave Germain Runs 5.999/206.51, Now #4
Kaplan gets down the track with very little tire shake and he makes a good run. Germain was on a nice run until just past half track the engine nosed over and smoke came out of the right side of the engine. We get word that there is no liquid on the track.

Left Lane: John Lombardo Jr. Runs 8.726/103.59, Now #7
Right Lane: Terry Ruckman Runs 5.970/235.78, Now #4
Lombardo spines the tires off the starting line. Ruckman goes about 150ft and he starts to shake the tires then goes into tire smoke. Ruckman still runs a 5.97 on a botched run.
Lombardo Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-1.027 sec., 330ft-2.935, 660ft-4.742/121.76 mph,
Left Lane: Doug Gordon Runs 5.615/257.80, Now #1
Right Lane: Shane Westerfield Runs 5.704/256.19, Now #4
Gordon with almost no tire shake at all and he makes the best run of the round. Westerfield shook the tires through low gear but managed to pedal it and get it to recover and he makes a nice run.

Left Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.638/262.23, Now #2
Right Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 11.555/97.87, Now #11
Hough has a new sponsor for the weekend in Ram Trucking. Gasparrelli shakes the tires hard and he lifts. Hough though makes a great run and he will have some great info to work off for the next run.

Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.630/257.87, Now #2
Dave Germain is on the bump spot at 5.999. Payne lights the tires at the switch of the feet. Whiteley drives through tire shake and she makes a very good run and will be the #2 spot.
