Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #1

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Seventh annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Mark Hogan Runs 6.887/204.66, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 29.16 inches, adjusted altitude 3,203 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.

Hogan labored off the line, but then was straight down the groove.

Left Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 13.717/63.27, Now #3
Right Lane: Kenny Delco Runs 6.810/205.38, Now #1

Spiess with severe tire shake and he clicked it off. Delco was straight down the groove.

Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 19.075/43.28, Now #5
Right Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.655/208.07, Now #1

Jones with violent tire shake and he clicked it off. Kent with a real nice pass to start the weekend. Steve Kent's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.791, 660ft-4.285/164.89 mph, 1,000ft-5.571.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.658/208.07, Now #3
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.616/209.56, Now #1

Morgan is able to get it off the starting line and goes to the number three spot. Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-1.002 sec., 330ft-2.794, 660ft-4.287/165.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.574. Gaines was straight down the groove with a nice pass to go to the number one spot. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.005 sec., 330ft-2.785, 660ft-4.266/170.79 mph, 1,000ft-5.541.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.653/208.91, Now #3
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.642/208.75, Now #2

These two are side-by-side to go to the number two and three spots. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.811, 660ft-4.292/165.52 mph, 1,000ft-5.575.
Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-1.005 sec., 330ft-2.796, 660ft-4.285/165.46 mph, 1,000ft-5.563.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.638/208.59, Now #3
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.628/209.23, Now #2

Anderson with the quickest 60-foot time of the session...Gray with a real nice pass to go to the number two spot. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.788, 660ft-4.274/165.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.552. Anderson is right there with him to number three spot.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.645/208.52, Now #6
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.605/209.33, Now #1

Johnson with a great pass, straight down the groove to the number one spot. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.256/166.46 mph, 1,000ft-5.530. Line to the number six spot. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.789, 660ft-4.280/165.42 mph, 1,000ft-5.564.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 9.789/94.35, Now #13
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.601/209.92, Now #1

Coughlin spun the tires hard and made a quick move toward the wall before he clicked it off. Edwards launched hard and goes to the No. 1 spot. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.255/166.66 mph, 1,000ft-5.528.
