Demke and Whiteley are Victorious

At O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Chicago
Chris Demke Tujunga, CA. and Annie Whiteley, Grand Junction, CO., took home the wins in Top Alcohol
Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively at the O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals
presented by Super Start Batteries at Route 66 Raceway.
Demke worked his way through the field and ran 5.319 seconds at 271.35 mph in his final round
victory over Rishi Kanick, Trinidad Tobago, who clocked in at 5.441 seconds, 262.49 mph.
Whiteley faced off against Fred Hagen, Des Plaines, IL. and posted a winning run of 5.608 seconds,
257.33 mph in her '10 Mustang. Hagen drove to a 5.968 second, 226.81 mph lap for his runner up
Other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were Mike De Palma, Glendale, AZ., in Comp
Eliminator; Phil Unruh, McPherson, KS., in Super Stock; Nick Folk, Durand, IL., in Super Comp; Drew
Skillman, Greenwood, IN., in Stock Eliminator; Ray Connolly, Elyria, OH., in Super Gas; and Ricky
Shipp, Needham, IN., in Super Street.
