 Qualified: #8 4.101 174.96 #7 4.100 176.05
12:00 p.m. Good lights in both lanes, Hintz with a slight edge. Close to half track, then Hintz started pulling away.

151 Dean Goforth 7 John Montecalvo
E1 No Time ****WINNER**** 0.163 4.095 175.96

This was a little strange. One of Goforth's crew members was standing in front of the car on the burnout and Goforth was disqualified.

352 Matt Bertsch 531 John Deflorian Jr.
E1 ****WINNER**** 0.005 4.132 173.59 0.033 4.174 168.90

Bertsch had a couple hundredths in hand at the tree and he never trailed after that. Deflorian had the better car yesterday, but the car got a little loose on this run and he was unable to close the gap.

Matt Bertsch's incremental margins: 60ft(0.010), 330 ft(0.023). MOV: 0.0701 seconds (approximately 17 feet).

3 Brian Gahm 6 Pete Berner
E1 -0.004 6.109 77.07 ****WINNER**** 0.103 4.111 173.65

Tough end to a good story, Gahm's weekend at the wheel of Larry O'Brien's Avenger ending four thousandths of a second before the green light came on.

Berner made a clean run and will have lane choice against Bertsch in round two.

118 John Konigshofer 383 Bradley Waddle

Waddle got very sideways and wisely called it off. Konigshofer had a great light, but he was vulnerable and will not have lane choice against Montecalvo in round two.

8 John Pluchino 1 Cary Goforth

Pluchino was a thousandth too quick and Goforth advances with lane choice against Hintz in round two.

143 Ron Miller 177 Elijah Morton
E1 -0.129 4.150 171.72 ****WINNER**** 0.084 4.100 176.37

Miller needed a tenth of a second to keep pace with Morton, but he took it on the wrong side of green and Morton advances, with a bye to the semifinals.
