MARTIN, Mich. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Aeromotive Fuel Systems Pro Mod at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, ADRL Summer Drags IX listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Chip King Runs 3.977/196.25, Now #2
Right Lane: Harold Martin Runs 3.974/187.00, Now #1
11:16 a.m. When these two squared off, a lot were expecting a "photo-op." Instead, what they got was a nice, side-by-side drag race, Martin getting the win light.
Left Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 4.344/179.11, Now #4
Right Lane: Jeff Lutz Runs 3.961/196.75, Now #1
Satterfield shook and slowed. Nice pass by Lutz to go to #1.
Right Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 3.998/189.61, Now #4
Solid run by Lang, puts him fourth, however.
Left Lane: Raymond Matos Runs 4.307/138.86, Now #6
Right Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 4.233/173.41, Now #5
Matusek's car was slow off the mark. Matos was on a strong pass for about 200 feet, then the rear of his car kicked out to the left and he had to backpedal.
Left Lane: Jason Hamstra Runs 4.058/184.15, Now #5
Right Lane: Adam Flamholc Runs 4.150/176.75, Now #6
Both were over a second for the first 60 feet.
Left Lane: Kevin Rivenbark Runs 3.952/187.99, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Gondziola Runs 4.048/188.52, Now #6
Nice pass by Rivenbark to go to the head of the class.
By the way, there are eighteen Pro Mods here and they will run a 16-car ladder this weekend.
Left Lane: Travis Harvey Runs 3.937/188.85, Now #1
Right Lane: Larry Higginbotham Runs 4.038/178.16, Now #7
The name at the top of the list keeps on changing. Nice run by Harvey. Higginbotham was one second-flat for 60 feet, Harvey was 0.981.
Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 3.969/191.25, Now #5
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 3.931/192.64, Now #1
Janis' 60-foot time was off and that kept him from being even quicker than Smith. Smith's car left very hard, the left front wheel at least a foot in the air.
Mike Janis' incremental times: 60ft-1.034 sec., 330ft-2.675.
Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.636.
Left Lane: Jimmy Keen Runs 3.933/188.94, Now #2
Keen also had an aggressive launch and a solid rugetting further and further to the right, about a foot or so from the finish line timing reflector.
Left Lane: Dan Stevenson Runs 4.042/185.81, Now #11
Stevenson's new car is a great-looking car and he had to work a bit to keep it looking that way. The car made a hard move toward the wall about 300 feet out and he had to backpedal to stay off the concrete.
Dan Stevenson's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.688.
Left Lane: Tim Savell Runs 3.926/192.08, Now #1
Saving the best for last...Savell appears to be the final car of the round and he went smoothly to the #1 spot.
Tim Savell's incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.639.
Nope, not the final car - there is at least one more.
Left Lane: Dave Roemer Runs 5.510/91.62, Now #19
Roemer spun the tires hard and the car wasn't going anywhere, so he shut it off.
