LAS VEGAS --

The old adage that "when something works, don't change it," or the perennial standby "don't mess with success," doesn't apply to drag racers. That group of tinkerers will always attempt to look for that next thousandth-of-a-second or hundredth of a mph. The same can be applied to race promoting.

With the success of the inaugural K&N Spring Fling Vegas bracket race in April of this year, promoters Peter Biondo and Kyle Seipel knew they had a winner on their hands but still will attempt to improve the event. The race, held at The Strip at Las Vegas Speedway featured over 400 entries vying for a purse previously unheard of in the western part of the country. With four more years on their contract in Las Vegas, Biondo and Seipel have made a change to the program which will surely only make it better.

Seipel said, "When Peter and I began this venture, our look of the big picture was to bring west the type of purses previously only found in the eastern part of the country. With the success of our inaugural event, we're now going to make that happen."

The K&N Spring Fling Vegas race will continue to include two separate classes (Super Pro and Pro), but the purse for each has been dramatically increased. Thursday's two opening day Warm-Up races will have the Super Pro winner receiving $5,000 while the Pro winner will walk away with $3,000. Friday through Sunday's races will feature three separate races with each paying $10,000, $20,000 and $10,000 for the Super Pro class, while the Pro race winner will be receiving $5,000, $10,000 and $5,000, along with increases for each round of racing.

"With the type of participation we saw at our Spring Fling Vegas race," Seipel said, "this is just our way of making the event a must attend for not only any west coast racer, but with Las Vegas being one of the greatest vacation spots in the country, it's a great event for anyone."

With guaranteed paybacks all the way through third round winners, Best Losing Package awards, dragster and door car Shootouts, along with the multitude of other extracurricular events taking place that weekend, the second K&N Spring Fling Vegas race will surely be another hit.
