Penland beat the usually-quick Nobile off the starting line, but his car was not up to the job and Penland slowed. Nobile also had his hands full, the car very loose for the first 200 feet, but he stayed with it for the win.

Both cars launched into severe tire shake, both drivers lifted. Then they realized the other car was also in trouble and both tried to recover. Bealko did the better job of recovering and got the win light.

Bealko will not have lane choice when he faces Deflorian in round 2.

Goforth launched into tire shake and he to backpedal to straighten the car out. Meanwhile, Morton left right with Goforth and didn't have any problems, taking a surprisingly easy win.

Morton will have lane choice against Nobile in round 2.

3 Brian Gahm 6 Pete Berner

Berner found the handle in the second qualifying session yesterday, Gahm never did find it.

Today it looked like fortunes reversed, Berner shaking and skating around, Gahm straight down the goove. However, he left the red light gleaming back at the starting line and Berner gets another chance next round. He will face Montecalvo and won't have lane choice.

383 Bradley Waddle 151 Dean Goforth

Waddle also struggled yesterday and never did get it sorted out. By the way, we failed to update Goforth's car information yesterday - it's a 2013 Camaro.

Waddle's troubles continued today, with a slow start and a puff of smoke at half track. Meanwhile, Goforth made another nice run and he will have lane choice against Cooper in round 2.
