Extreme Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

PETERSBURG, Va. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Extreme Pro Stock at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Simply Phones U.S. Drags VI listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Bradley Waddle Runs 9.080/48.52, Now #15; Best prior run: 10.828/39.47, Was #15
Right Lane: Doug Kirk Runs 4.160/173.81, Now #5; Best prior run: 8.087/76.66, Was #13

10:00 p.m. No bumping, there are exactly sixteen cars here.

Waddle shook and slowed. Something came off of Kirk's car at the stripe - looked like at least the hood scoop, maybe more of the hood as well.

Left Lane: Lester Cooper Runs 4.183/171.88, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.170/172.28, Was #6
Right Lane: Cary Goforth Runs 5.799/98.85, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.912/86.83, Was #11

Goforth shook and slowed. Cooper made his second clean run of the day, not quite as quick as his first.

Right Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 4.101/176.37, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.640/120.72, Was #9

Kevin Bealko was paired with Morton. His car fired under the tower. then shut off. He tried again, the engine still sounded rough and his crew pushed him out in front of the tower to try to figure it out. Since he did not make a burnout, he can run at the end of the session if they can get the problem fixed.

Nice run by Morton on the solo pass...good enough to take over the #1 spot, for now at least.

Left Lane: Trevor Eman Runs 7.643/73.02, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.114/175.91, Was #3
Right Lane: John Pluchino Runs 5.787/82.13, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.177/173.70, Was #8

Both shook and slowed.

Left Lane: Dean Goforth Runs 4.068/178.45, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.123/177.18, Was #4
Right Lane: Pete Berner Runs 4.096/175.78, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.835/57.31, Was #13

Two very nice runs, taking over the top two spots.

Dean Goforth's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.685.
Pete Berner's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.693.

Left Lane: John Deflorian Jr. Runs 4.658/147.68, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.777/68.43, Was #13
Right Lane: Brian Gahm Runs 8.393/64.91, Now #14; Best prior run: 8.911/70.23, Was #14

Gahm once again could not get hooked up. Deflorian did, but only broefly, then his car madde a hard move. He pedaled, the car made another move, in the opposite direction, and he pedaled again to finish the run. As ugly as it was, he improved enough to move up a couple spots.

Left Lane: Scott Hintz Runs 6.731/67.14, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.108/177.18, Was #4
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 4.115/173.87, Now #6; No Prior Run

Hintz shook, pedaled, and shut off. Nobile showed that he can drive a mountain motor car by making a strong run this time, the car over close to the wall most of the way.

Left Lane: Richard Penland Runs 8.550/51.64, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.477/147.78, Was #11

Penland lost traction almpost immediately.

Left Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 7.829/62.72, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.145/175.52, Was #7
Right Lane: Kevin Bealko Runs 8.962/50.24, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.505/89.87, Was #13

Bealko's crew apparently got the problem solved because he fired the car and made the burnout.

Both cars shook and slowed immediately.
