Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, North Central Division, Spring Spectacle of Speed listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Gord Gingles Runs 5.328/270.70, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.375/170.58, Was #11
Right Lane: Dave Hirata Runs 5.567/261.88, Now #8; Best prior run: 13.146/84.60, Was #12

5:27 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 57 degrees, relative humidity 65 percent, barometer 29.18 inches, adjusted altitude 1,242 feet, track temperature 80 degrees.

Ginles goes right down the groove with his quickest attempt this weekend and gets in the field in the second spot. Hirata finally makes a full pass and gets in the field on the bump spot for now.

Left Lane: Paul Fishburn Runs 8.489/79.31, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.216/178.85, Was #12
Right Lane: Ray Hack Runs 6.785/159.59, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.657/255.97, Was #10

Hack had cylinders out on the left side all the way through the run and cannot improve. Fishburn has problems around half track and backs off the throttle.

Right Lane: Robin Samsel Runs 12.890/58.42, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.408/266.27, Was #7

Samsel rattles the tires off the line and backs off the throttle quickly.

Left Lane: Mike Kosky Runs 10.197/79.03, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.604/200.83, Was #9
Right Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 5.475/259.81, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.399/265.90, Was #6

Kosky pulls the wheels off the line, carries them for about 200 feet, then backs off the throttle. Thacker goes right down the groove but doesn't improve.

Right Lane: Ken Perry Runs 8.897/95.52, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.341/268.76, Was #3

Perry shakes the tires, gets about 200 feet out and backs off the throttle.

Left Lane: Brandon Booher Runs 9.509/83.09, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.342/271.57, Was #4
Right Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 9.196/88.37, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.301/264.65, Was #1

Booher made a career best pass in his first attempt but had problems last round. Reichert had tractions problems at the hit last round.

Booher pulls the wheels off the line, gets about 100 feet out and has to back off the throttle. Reichert got about 100 feet out, the front wheels started to rise and he gave up on the run.
