Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #2

BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 26th annual O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Chris Juliano Runs 6.246/220.15, Now #8; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 6.499/236.55, Now #10; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 67 percent, barometer 30.08 inches, adjusted altitude 2,044 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.

these two didn't make runs in round one. King started to shake and drove through it to go to the number ten spot. Juliano with a good pass to get into the top half of the show.


Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.930/246.53, Now #1; Best prior run: 8.407/85.96, Was #11
Right Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 5.964/244.34, Now #3; Best prior run: 12.235/56.96, Was #14

This was a great drag race as Rowe goes to the number one spot. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.636, 660ft-3.925/194.13 mph, 1,000ft-5.015. Knowles was right there with him to go to the number three spot. Mike Knowles' incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.646, 660ft-3.939/192.60 mph, 1,000ft-5.040.

Left Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 6.060/246.03, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.074/246.48, Was #9
Right Lane: Jeffrey Cummins Jr. Runs 10.010/90.54, Now #14; Best prior run: 9.786/93.08, Was #14

Matusek drove through tire shake to get into the top half of the show. Steve Matusek's incremental times: 60ft-1.013 sec., 330ft-2.732, 660ft-4.044/191.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.142. Cummins JR. with violent tire shake and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 5.983/245.99, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.055/245.36, Was #6
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 5.880/244.56, Now #1; Best prior run: 9.429/95.99, Was #13

Castellana launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.608, 660ft-3.878/196.07 mph, 1,000ft-4.962. Lang with another good pass to get into the top half of the show. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.672, 660ft-3.969/193.27 mph, 1,000ft-5.065.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.964/242.54, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.019/242.71, Was #7
Right Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 6.208/202.45, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.331/237.30, Was #12

Smith with a good looking pass, straight down the groove to move up the ladder a couple spots. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.658, 660ft-3.942/193.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.037. Satterfield was real loose and got real close to the centerline, but keep it in his lane.

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 5.979/243.90, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.988/244.65, Was #7
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 5.979/248.71, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.068/244.74, Was #10

these guys were side-by-side all the way dow the the 1320. Coughlin goes back to the number six spot and Smith is right there with him. Von Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.015 sec., 330ft-2.653, 660ft-3.949/191.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.053.
Troy Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.038 sec., 330ft-2.749, 660ft-4.004/198.93 mph, 1,000ft-5.075.

Left Lane: Mike Janis Runs 7.598/128.44, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.960/244.25, Was #3
Right Lane: Pete Farber Runs 5.966/246.12, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.068/245.76, Was #10

Janis is out of the groove and over by the wall and clicked it off early. Farber launched hard and made a real nice pass to get back into the top half of the show. Pete Farber's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.670, 660ft-3.952/201.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.049.
