CONCORD, N.C. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle:

This is Head's third race of his career. He did not qualify at his first race in Gainesville earlier this year and qualified 13th in Las Vegas where he lost in the first round. It took his father Jim 158 races to get his first top qualifying spot.

Hight lost in the first round of the first four-wide race in 2010, lost in the second round in 2011 and won the race last year. hight had only qualified number 16 once in his career until this year. He has now qualified 16th twice this year.

DeJoria lost in the first round of this race last year.

Arend has lost in the first round in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

DeJoria has problems right off the line and the car noses over. Head runs the quickest ET but Hight gets the win with the better hole-shot. Arend was keeping pace but had problems near the end of the run.

Finish Order & Margins: 1. Robert Hight was 0.0438 sec./about 20 feet ahead of 2. Chad Head, who was 0.078 sec./about 34 feet ahead of 3. Jeff Arend, who was 5.485 sec./more than 100 feet ahead of 4. Alexis DeJoria

Beckman has ran this race three times. He won here in 2011 and lost in the second round in 2010 and 2012.

Creasy lost in the first round of this race in 2011 and failed to qualify last year.

Hagan made it to the finals in 2010, lost in the first round in 2011 and failed to make the field in 2012.

Capps was in the finals in both 2010 and 2012. he lost in the first round in 2011.

Creasy has problems after the burnout and is shut down. Capps gets off the line first but starts falling behind quickly. Hagan makes his quickest pass of the weekend and takes the win. Beckman slowed a little near the end of the run but hung on and will move to the next round.

John Force won this race in 2010, lost in the second round in 2011 and was in the finals last year.

Pedregon has lost in the first round in all three prior four-wide races.

Tasca lost in the first round of this race in 2010, runnered-up in 2011 and lost in the second round last year.

Alexander first ran this race lst year where he lost in the first round.

Force goes up in smoke about 100 feet out and clicks it off. Pedregon's car was a little suggish early, then lost power late in the run. Tasca makes his quickest pass of the weekend and takes the win, his 100th round win of his career. Alexander goes right down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend to move on to the next round. Finish Order & Margins: 1. Bob Tasca III was 0.0471 sec./about 21 feet ahead of 2. This is Wilkerson's third four-wide race. In 2010 he lost in the second round, runnered-up in 2011 and lost in the first round last year.

Pedregon was the runner-up here last year. He lost in the first round in 2010 and 2011.

Worsham won this race in the Top Fuel class in 2011.

Force lost in the first round last year.

Worsham started hazing the tires about 200 feet out. Force got about 500 feet out, started losing traction and moving around. Pedregon makes his quickest pass of the weekend and takes the win. Wilkerson has problems late in the run but was able to hang on and move to the next round.

Finish Order & Margins: 1. Cruz Pedregon was 0.0801 sec./about 27 feet ahead of 2. Tim Wilkerson, who was 0.226 sec./about 77 feet ahead of 3. Del Worsham, who was 0.006 sec./about 19 inches ahead of 4. Courtney Force
