Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Lane 1: Terry McMillen Runs 5.051/274.27, Now #19; Best prior run: 8.945/82.61, Was #19
Lane 2: Sidnei Frigo Runs 3.884/316.52, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.728/66.89, Was #17
Lane 3: Pat Dakin Runs 3.974/299.20, Now #15; Best prior run: 9.478/70.24, Was #20
Lane 4: Larry Dixon Runs 3.851/314.75, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.475/180.04, Was #15

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 29.46 inches, adjusted altitude 1,467 feet, track temperature 108 degrees.

McMillen is up in smoke early in the run and he will not make the show after going to the semifinals at the last race. Dixon with the quickest pass of this quad and he goes to the number nine spot. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.178, 660ft-3.088/279.61 mph. Frigo gets in the show at the number 14 spot. Sidnei Frigo's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.199, 660ft-3.122/278.52 mph. Dakin with his best pass of the season and he gets in the show for now at the number 15 spot. Pat Dakin's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.217, 660ft-3.170/267.32 mph.


Lane 1: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.883/315.19, Now #14; Best prior run: 8.468/80.23, Was #20
Lane 2: Clay Millican Runs 4.091/233.08, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.569/166.21, Was #18
Lane 3: Leah Pruett Runs 5.324/124.86, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.851/310.84, Was #10
Lane 4: Chris Karamesines No Time, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.022/302.14, Was #17

Karamesines is a no show and he will not make the show. Millican started to lose traction on the top end and slows, so he will not get in the show. Zizzo with his best pass of the season to get in the show. T.J. Zizzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.189, 660ft-3.116/276.75 mph. Pruett is up in smoke, but stays in the number 10 spot.

Schumacher just got bumped out and needs to run quicker that Dakin's 3.974 seconds to get in the show. Schumacher responds and he gets into the top half of the show. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.167, 660ft-3.071/283.19 mph. that bumps out Dakin. Bernstein with a nice pass to move up the ladder to the number 10 spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.072/282.24 mph. Torrence starts to lose traction and clicks it off. Another good pass for Force, but got bumped back one spot by Schumacher. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.072/282.24 mph.
Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.167, 660ft-3.071/283.19 mph.

Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.183, 660ft-3.221/212.33 mph.

Lane 1: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.706/158.84, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.852/315.05, Was #13

Kalitta, Grubnic and alBalooshi all lost traction early in the run and clicked it off. Langdon launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. This is his fastest pass of the season. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.133, 660ft-3.015/288.77 mph.

Lane 2: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.818/324.12, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.828/320.66, Was #8
Lane 3: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.788/324.90, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.793/322.81, Was #3
Lane 4: Spencer Massey Runs 3.980/270.70, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.774/326.24, Was #2

Brown starts to haze the tires around half track and clicks it off. Vandergriff with another good looking pass and move up to the number five spot. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.165, 660ft-3.069/283.73 mph. Lucas with the second quickest pass of the round and will stay in the number three spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.140, 660ft-3.041/281.54 mph. Massey was on a good pass, but started to haze the tires on the top end, but will hold on to the number two spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.157, 660ft-3.105/248.29 mph.
