CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Lane 1: Redell Harris Runs 7.171/187.83, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.148/188.67, Was #21
Lane 3: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.112/189.63, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.129/190.75, Was #20
Lane 4: Joe DeSantis Runs 8.968/97.08, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.216/178.35, Was #22

2:29 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 66 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 29.46 inches, adjusted altitude 1,311 feet, track temperature 107 degrees.

Camarena makes his quickest pass of the weekend but doesn't make it in the show.

Harris slows from his earlier attempt and will not make the show.

DeSantis drifted to the left, got close to the centerline and had to back off the throttle.

Lane 2: Angie Smith Runs 6.949/190.81, Now #12; Best prior run: 9.138/104.02, Was #23
Lane 3: Katie Sullivan Runs 6.940/189.92, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.089/188.65, Was #16
Lane 4: James Surber Runs 7.208/185.36, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.117/184.67, Was #20

Arana makes his quickest pass ever and gets in the show in the seventh spot for now.

Smith makes a full pass and gets in the show for now.

Sullivan was on the bump but improves and moves up to the tenth spot.

Surber had problems right off the line and backed off the throttle.

Lane 2: Chip Ellis Runs 7.065/190.43, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.979/191.59, Was #16
Lane 3: Andrew Hines Runs 6.912/190.19, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.939/192.36, Was #9
Lane 4: Steve Johnson Runs 6.942/193.90, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.094/188.70, Was #19

Wells has problems late in the run and does not make the show.

Johnson makes his quickest pass of the weekend, gets in the show, and bumps out Ellis who can't improve.

Hines makes his quickest pass of the weekend but stays in the ninth spot.


Lane 1: Michael Phillips Runs 7.023/190.67, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.049/188.17, Was #18
Lane 2: Shawn Gann Runs 6.933/187.55, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.943/193.93, Was #12
Lane 3: Michael Ray Runs 6.885/193.88, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.903/193.32, Was #8
Lane 4: LE Tonglet Runs 6.914/192.60, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.975/191.59, Was #16

Phillips improves a little but can't break into the field.

Gann makes a decent pass and moves up a notch to the 11th spot.

Ray makes a nice pass and moves up to the fifth spot for now.

Tonglet gets off the bump and moves up to the tenth spot.

Lane 2: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.060/194.58, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.890/194.91, Was #7
Lane 3: Matt Smith Runs 7.410/135.48, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.837/194.63, Was #2
Lane 4: Mike Berry Runs 6.960/189.71, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.972/190.14, Was #15

Krawiec improves a little but not enough to get off the bump.

Underdahl slows but will stay in the seventh spot.

Smith has problems late in the run and backs off the throttle.

Berry improves a little and will stay in the 15th spot.


Lane 1: Hector Arana No Time, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.860/194.24, Was #3
Lane 2: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.834/193.88, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.887/191.32, Was #6
Lane 3: Hector Arana Jr. Runs 6.849/194.13, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.826/195.19, Was #1
Lane 4: John Hall Runs 6.868/192.74, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.875/190.24, Was #4

Arana Sr. broke and was pushed off the line.

Pollacheck runs a career best and moves up to the second spot.

Arana Jr. slows a little but will take the top spot for the 11th time in his career.

Hall improves a little but drops a notch when Pollacheck goes around him in the order.
