Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Harold Martin No Time, Now #17; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 66 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 29.46 inches, adjusted altitude 1,311 feet, track temperature 107 degrees.

Martin was on a good pass until he started drifting out of the groove toward the centerline. He collected the 1000-foot timing blocks and will not get a time. He will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 9.339/100.92, Now #16; Best prior run: 9.386/103.43, Was #16
Right Lane: Doug Winters Runs 8.807/108.69, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.592/214.55, Was #14

Knowles start to shake right off the starting line and pedaled it but couldn't get it to hook up and clicked it off. Winters shook and pedaled it and then shook again and pedaled it one more time before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 5.944/238.93, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.675/123.64, Was #15
Right Lane: Kevin McCurdy Runs 6.256/227.11, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.143/231.83, Was #11

Castellana launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Mike Castellana's incremental times: 60ft-0.967 sec., 330ft-2.615, 660ft-3.903/193.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.006. McCurdy shook right off the starting line and pedaled it, but will not improve.

Left Lane: Steve Matusek Runs 6.074/243.68, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.498/243.28, Was #14
Right Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 5.931/247.20, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.090/242.71, Was #11

Lang with a great pass as he was straight down the groove to the number one spot. Kenny Lang's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.642, 660ft-3.932/194.49 mph, 1,000ft-5.020. Matusek started to drift toward the centerline, but reeled it in and stayed with it to move up the ladder. Steve Matusek's incremental times: 60ft-1.023 sec., 330ft-2.729, 660ft-4.048/190.94 mph, 1,000ft-5.150.

Left Lane: Chris Juliano Runs 6.240/225.22, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.208/226.89, Was #14
Right Lane: Chip King Runs 10.847/90.92, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.082/247.16, Was #12

Juliano with a clean pass, but will not improve. King was up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 11.463/84.91, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.033/236.92, Was #9
Right Lane: Mike Janis Runs 5.969/241.63, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.069/239.53, Was #10

Smith starts to shake right at the hit and clicks it off. Janis with a real nice pass to get into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Pete Farber Runs 15.336/61.99, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.030/242.45, Was #9
Right Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 6.114/241.76, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.019/246.98, Was #8

Farber shook and shut off. No help here for Satterfield, but will stay in the number eight spot. Clint Satterfield's incremental times: 60ft-1.052 sec., 330ft-2.751, 660ft-4.075/189.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.184.

Left Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 5.936/241.45, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.977/242.41, Was #7
Right Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 5.867/249.07, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.966/244.07, Was #4

This was a great side-by-side drag race as Rowe goes to the number one spot and Smith to the number three spot. Rickie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.637, 660ft-3.916/194.60 mph, 1,000ft-5.010.
Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.609, 660ft-3.884/196.22 mph, 1,000ft-4.963.

Left Lane: Eric Latino Runs 6.007/245.09, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.976/243.94, Was #7
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 9.784/114.71, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.963/243.72, Was #5

Latino with another good pass, but will not improve. Eric Latino's incremental times: 60ft-1.024 sec., 330ft-2.691, 660ft-3.995/192.44 mph, 1,000ft-5.090. Coughlin shook early and clicked it off.

Rowe will hold on the the number one qualifying spot for the fourth time in career.
