CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Lane 1: Pat Dakin Runs 9.478/70.24, Now #4
Lane 2: Chris Karamesines Runs 4.022/302.14, Now #1
Lane 3: T.J. Zizzo Runs 8.468/80.23, Now #3
Lane 4: Sidnei Frigo Runs 6.728/66.89, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 66 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 29.48 inches, adjusted altitude 1,307 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

Zizzo went silent right off the starting line. Dakin with problems right off the starting line and clicked it off. Frigo bang around 300 feet and his chutes deployed automatically. Karamesines launched hard and keep it hooked up to make good clean pass to start the weekend.Chris Karamesines' incremental times: 60ft-0.936 sec., 330ft-2.286, 660ft-3.227/269.78 mph.

Lane 2: Larry Dixon Runs 4.475/180.04, Now #4
Lane 3: Terry McMillen Runs 8.945/82.61, Now #7
Lane 4: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.828/320.66, Now #1

McMillen starts to smoke the tires right at the hit and clicked it off. Dixon was on a good pass half track when it had a big bang. Pruett with a real nice pass to go to then umber two spot. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.176, 660ft-3.080/278.75 mph. Vandergriff with a great pass, straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.074/281.19 mph.

Lane 1: Brittany Force Runs 3.839/322.88, Now #3
Lane 2: Steve Torrence Runs 3.820/320.81, Now #1
Lane 3: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.867/317.42, Now #6
Lane 4: David Grubnic Runs 3.855/314.53, Now #5

This was a great quad as they all left together and all keep it hooked up to make full passes. Torrence with a great pass to get the number one spot. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.152, 660ft-3.064/280.84 mph. Force goes to the number three spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.182, 660ft-3.089/282.90 mph. Grubnic to the number five spot. Grubnic to the number five spot. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.183, 660ft-3.090/279.79 mph. Bernstein to the number six spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.858 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.105/274.39 mph.

Lane 2: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.804/324.05, Now #2
Lane 3: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.852/315.05, Now #7

Lucas launched hard and was straight down the groove to the number one spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.139, 660ft-3.043/281.42 mph. alBalooshi was right there with him to go to the number two spot. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.160, 660ft-3.057/285.47 mph. Kalitta gets into the top half of the show. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.187, 660ft-3.091/281.13 mph. Millican started to smoke the tires just past half track.

Lane 2: Spencer Massey Runs 3.774/326.24, Now #1
Lane 3: Antron Brown Runs 3.822/322.19, Now #6
Lane 4: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.990/275.11, Now #13

Massey with a great pass to go to the number one spot...Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.143, 660ft-3.033/286.98 mph. Langdon with a real nice pass to go to the number three spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.150, 660ft-3.042/285.71 mph. Brown was straight down the groove to get into the top half of the show. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.071/281.77 mph. Schumacher started hazing the tires on the top end. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.172, 660ft-3.125/252.66 mph.
