Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Ray Drew Runs 5.608/254.47, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.853/254.38, Was #14

Weather conditions: air temperature 64 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 29.49 inches, adjusted altitude 1,167 feet, track temperature 86 degrees.

Drew launched hard and keep the car stuck and in the groove to go to the number two spot. Ray Drew's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.491, 660ft-3.694/205.69 mph, 1,000ft-4.727.

Right Lane: Marie Ferriolo Runs 6.056/246.08, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.783/248.98, Was #11

Ferriolo starts to shake right off the starting line and pedals it and then straight down the groove.

Left Lane: Mark Rogers Runs 5.715/246.39, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.825/245.32, Was #13
Right Lane: Cassie Simonton Runs 10.014/125.72, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.694/255.97, Was #9

Simonton was up in smoke as soon as she hit the throttle and clicked it off. rogers with a good pass with his quickest pass of the weekend. He moves up to the number ten spot.

Left Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.541/256.50, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.727/257.04, Was #11
Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 12.456/82.70, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.667/254.90, Was #8

Veney with problems right off the starting line and clicks it off. Whitely launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.944 sec., 330ft-2.460, 660ft-3.647/208.81 mph, 1,000ft-4.670.

Left Lane: Andy Bohl No Time, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.624/257.28, Was #6
Right Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.565/260.51, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.664/256.26, Was #8

bohl with problems as soon as the light turns green and he comes to a stop on the track about 100 feet out. Pomponio with a great looking pass to go to the number two spot, this is his career fastest pass. Dan Pomponio's incremental times: 60ft-0.944 sec., 330ft-2.481, 660ft-3.683/206.07 mph, 1,000ft-4.703.

Left Lane: Dale Brand Runs 5.530/262.33, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.622/257.38, Was #6
Right Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 5.695/247.66, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.628/259.61, Was #8

Brand with a great looking pass, straight down the groove to the number one spot, and this is his career fastest pass. Dale Brand's incremental times: 60ft-0.951 sec., 330ft-2.471, 660ft-3.661/208.62 mph, 1,000ft-4.674. Noakes with another good pass, but doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Chris Foster Runs 5.476/263.10, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.621/257.92, Was #6
Right Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 13.776/71.67, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.602/260.01, Was #4

Manzo is running a new car this weekend. He is shakes the tires as soon as he hits the throttle and clicks it off. Foster with his career quickest and fastest pass to go to the number one spot. That was a great looking pass. Chris Foster's incremental times: 60ft-0.945 sec., 330ft-2.445, 660ft-3.620/210.83 mph, 1,000ft-4.624.
