CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual NHRA Four-Wide Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Dale Brand Runs 5.622/257.38, Now #2; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 65 percent, barometer 29.15 inches, adjusted altitude 2,938 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.

Brand launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Dale Brand's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.517, 660ft-3.724/204.98 mph, 1,000ft-4.751.


Left Lane: Marie Ferriolo Runs 5.783/248.98, Now #9; No Prior Run

Ferriolo with a good clean pass to get a time on the board. Marie Ferriolo's incremental times: 60ft-0.957 sec., 330ft-2.590, 660ft-3.826/201.10 mph, 1,000ft-4.883.

Left Lane: Cassie Simonton Runs 5.694/255.97, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.896/205.57, Was #14
Right Lane: Mark Rogers Runs 5.825/245.32, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.828/243.24, Was #11

Simonton was straight down the groove to move into the top half of the show. Cassie Simonton's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.554, 660ft-3.776/203.09 mph, 1,000ft-4.815. Rogers is just a tick better than his previous pass, but still gets pushed back a spot by Simonton. Drew started drifting out of the groove and collected the timing cones.

Left Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.667/254.90, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.678/254.04, Was #6
Right Lane: Andy Bohl Runs 5.624/257.28, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.759/256.02, Was #9

This was a good side-by-side drag race...Bohl is straight down the groove to the to go to the number three spot. Andy Bohl's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.509, 660ft-3.719/204.85 mph, 1,000ft-4.750. Veney improves, but stays in the number six spot. Todd Veney's incremental times: 60ft-0.969 sec., 330ft-2.528, 660ft-3.748/202.61 mph, 1,000ft-4.786.

Left Lane: Dan Pomponio Runs 5.664/256.26, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.670/256.11, Was #7
Right Lane: Annie Whiteley Runs 5.803/254.57, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.727/257.04, Was #9

No help here for Whiteley...Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.609, 660ft-3.866/199.40 mph, 1,000ft-4.919. Pomponio with a good pass and he moves up the ladder one spot. Dan Pomponio's incremental times: 60ft-0.952 sec., 330ft-2.521, 660ft-3.746/202.12 mph, 1,000ft-4.786.

Left Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 5.769/255.34, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.628/259.61, Was #4
Right Lane: Chris Foster Runs 5.621/257.92, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.643/257.04, Was #5

foster launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number two spot. Chris Foster's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.522, 660ft-3.728/205.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.753. No help here for Noakes...Paul Noakes' incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.590, 660ft-3.838/200.95 mph, 1,000ft-4.888.

Left Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.602/260.01, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.614/258.76, Was #1

Manzo with a great looking pass to improve on his number one spot. Frank Manzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.506, 660ft-3.712/206.51 mph, 1,000ft-4.737.
