SAN ANTONIO - Updated results of round 1 eliminations in Amsoil Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car at the 2013 Nitro Jam Series, IHRA San Antonio Nitro Jam presented by CarSafe & Good Vibrations Motorsports Day Two:
Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed 6006 Mark Sanders 3 Greg Jacobsmeyer E1 0.170 6.161 230.30 ****WINNER**** 0.148 6.151 233.407:32 p.m. Jacobsmeyer was a little better on the tree and a little quicker on the run. Greg Jacobsmeyer's MOV: 0.0320 seconds (approximately 11 feet) and last-night's big winner will not be in the championship round tonight.
Peter Gallen and JohnHale were
ready to stage for their race when the staging lights on the tree started acting up. The started tried to clear the problem (a
spider in the sensor tubes), but the delay was too long and the cars were shut off for safety. Because of the time required to cool
and service the cars, they will not run in this round and race officials are meeting with the drivers to determine how the final
round pairings will be established.
Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed 114 Peter Gallen 496 John Hale E1 ****WINNER**** 0.099 5.849 248.48 0.124 6.787 170.398:41 p.m. Well, the two teams rejected any solution except a head-to-head race to determine who goes to the championship round, then worked feverishly to get the cars turned around so they could do just that.
Gallen had a small advantage on the tree, which turned into a large advantage when Hale lost traction and had to backpedal to regain traction.
Hale will face Sanders in the
consolation pairing and Gallen will face Jacobsmeyer in the championship pairing.
