Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

LAS VEGAS - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 14th annual NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.769/207.02, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.689/207.78, Was #8
Right Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.711/206.54, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.675/206.89, Was #5

Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 27.75 inches, adjusted altitude 4,513 feet, track temperature 114 degrees.

This was a part of the K&N Horsepower Challenge and neither driver improves.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.773/206.64, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.697/207.53, Was #9
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.687/207.08, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.652/207.53, Was #2

No help here for either driver.

Left Lane: Steve Kent No Time, Now #19; Best prior run: 21.089/28.16, Was #19

Kent with problems again today and came to a stop on the track and he will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 10.994/81.05, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.764/205.26, Was #18
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.735/205.16, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.737/205.26, Was #17

McGaha shook and and pushed in the clutch and he will not get in the show. Johnson with his quickest pass of the weekend and just misses getting into the show. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.817, 660ft-4.333/162.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.637.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.769/204.51, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.734/205.04, Was #16
Right Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.732/205.10, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.720/204.94, Was #13

No help here for either driver, but they are in show.

Left Lane: JR Carr Runs 11.084/80.53, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.732/201.64, Was #15
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.762/204.17, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.706/205.47, Was #11

Carr shook right off the starting line and clicked it off. Brogdon will not improve and stays in the number 11 spot.

Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.759/204.51, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.726/205.26, Was #14
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.709/206.13, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.697/206.54, Was #10

Still no changes here...

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.732/205.29, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.709/205.29, Was #12
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.740/206.64, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.685/207.40, Was #7

Stanfield with the fourth quickest pass of the session, but he will not improve.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 14.359/27.72, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.684/207.50, Was #6
Right Lane: Rickie Jones No Time, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.674/207.82, Was #4

Jones broke on the burnout, the word from the starting line was he broke the belt for the dry sump. Gaines with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.642/208.26, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.651/207.98, Was #1
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.658/207.72, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.655/207.34, Was #3

Edwards with the quickest pass of the event to improve on his No. 1 spot. Edwards qualifies No. 1 for the 45th time in his career and also has been the number one qualifier at every event this year. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.787, 660ft-4.278/165.09 mph, 1,000ft-5.561. Coughlin with the second quickest pass of the round and he will stay in the number tree spot. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.792, 660ft-4.288/164.65 mph, 1,000ft-5.574.
