Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 14th annual SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Brian Hough Runs 5.728/252.10, Now #5; Best prior run: 8.882/108.04, Was #20
Right Lane: Dave Germain Runs 6.291/180.86, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.168/206.04, Was #18

5:14 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 27.69 inches, adjusted altitude 4,552 feet, track temperature 99 degrees.

Both drivers were out of the groove on the top half of the track. Germain was trailing smoke at the finish.

Brian Hough's incremental times: 60ft-0.966 sec., 330ft-2.545, 660ft-3.782/200.44 mph, 1,000ft-4.835.


Left Lane: Steve Gasparrelli Runs 5.735/252.85, Now #8; Best prior run: 8.875/155.83, Was #20
Right Lane: Mike Drake Runs 5.919/244.56, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.900/243.72, Was #17

Drake had a little wiggle off the line. A smooth pass for Gasparrelli.

Steve Gasparrelli's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.573, 660ft-3.801/201.67 mph, 1,000ft-4.846.
Mike Drake's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.630, 660ft-3.910/193.43 mph, 1,000ft-4.998.


Left Lane: Nick Januik No Time, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.012/244.43, Was #19
Right Lane: Bernie Harrington No Time, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.823/244.47, Was #15

Both drivers were skating around quite a bit. Januik crossed the centerline and he took out both finish line timing cones, negating the times for both drivers.

Left Lane: John Lombardo Jr. Runs 5.663/256.36, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.875/252.14, Was #17
Right Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 10.866/91.90, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.818/253.28, Was #14

Bartone moved to the right just past the tree and he lifted. A good looking pass for Lombardo moves him to the top of the ladder for now.

John Lombardo Jr.'s incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.531, 660ft-3.748/203.46 mph, 1,000ft-4.784.

Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.681/255.34, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.801/252.28, Was #13

A good looking pass for both drivers.

Wernhart was moving around his lane but he stayed on the throttle. A very good looking pass for Whiteley moves her to the top of the ladder for now.

Hannes Wernhart's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.558, 660ft-3.810/198.23 mph, 1,000ft-4.878.
Annie Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.524, 660ft-3.743/203.34 mph, 1,000ft-4.781.


Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.741/252.14, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.770/251.25, Was #14
Right Lane: Mark Woznichak Runs 5.715/254.28, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.735/253.42, Was #11

Bellemeur had a hard time keeping his car in the groove on the first half of this pass. No problems for Woznichak.

A little wiggling around in both lanes.
